Up for sale is a beautiful example of a 1974 Mercedes-Benz 280E sedan. This car is in excellent condition and looks like it just came out of a hollywood movie. The white gloss paint is beautiful an astounding finish, Water beads and rolls right off the paint! The interior is in just as astounding of condition. The blue leather seats have no rips or tears and all the seats recline and move as they should. Start her up and you'll notice the smoothness you can only find in a mercedes, it is sewing machine smooth! The 2.8liter inline 6 has had all maintenance done, new distributor and rotor, new plugs and wires. The car runs very smooth and starts right up every time. The carburetor has been rebuilt as well as a new battery installed as well has a rebuilt transmission which still has a 3 year warranty! A/c works ice cold and all instruments inside work flawlessly. All door locks and actuators work, as well as windows. The suspension on the car has also been redone with brand new shocks all around and new brakes and tires. There are just a few small blemishes which are barely visible unless previously noted, for example there is a small rust bubble in the drivers front fender the size of a penny and another smaller one on the rear fender near the wheel well. The sale will include 4 extra hubcaps in like new condition. This is slowly becoming a collectible and hurry now to reserve a piece of German history, this car is a real turner!! I get stopped constantly and complemented. I reserve to end the auction early as it is for sale locally and it is sold AS-IS meaning no returns and NO warranty. Thank you and happy bidding!!

Mercedes has already booked 30k orders for new S-Class

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

When Toyota snags 30,000 Corolla orders over a three-month span, it's entirely possible we're in the midst of a global economic collapse and that the end is nigh. That's because the scale for Toyota is so very large. Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, operates on a much smaller scale, particularly when we talk about its higher-end models, like the S-Class.
In 2012, Mercedes sold 65,000 of its flagship sedans in Germany and the EU. That's 178 units per day, for 365 days. Based on that, you can imagine the excitement at Stuttgart when it accepted 30,000 orders for the new S-Class in just three months. That's an average of 333 per day on a continent with a notoriously shaky economy. Now, admittedly, this enthusiasm could wane as the refitted S-Class becomes more common and Mercedes achieves market saturation in Europe's many chauffeur and livery services, but Mercedes isn't choosing to look at it that way.
"The new S-Class has already jumped back into the lead in terms of new vehicle registrations in Germany and its neighboring European countries," Mercedes-Benz head of sales and marketing, Ola Kaellenius, said in a statement last week.

Maybach and Aston Martin alliance talks fall apart

Tue, 27 Sep 2011

If you have, like us, been salivating at the notion of a new generation of Maybach and Lagonda ultra-luxury crafts built by Aston Martin, we've got some bad news: According to reports emanating from Germany, talks between AML and Daimler have broken down.
The proposal under negotiation would have seen Daimler outsourcing production of the next family of Maybach models to Aston Martin, which in return would benefit from Mercedes-Benz platforms and engines - not only for its svelte GTs, but also for its own future Lagonda line of limousines and luxury SUVs. That, and a boatload of money - or at least that's what AML was reportedly seeking, an issue that served as the stumbling block over which the deal reportedly collapsed.
That's not to say the two parties couldn't still reach some sort of a compromise, but short of that, Daimler may opt to either shut down Maybach altogether, find another partner, or take another stab at building new models internally.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
