1964 Mercedes Benz 220SE Sport Coupe

A Grand Classic in Extraordinary Condition

This motorcar was from a time when Mercedes Benz’s were built by hand by the best Master German Craftsmen. In my opinion, after 30 years of selling Mercedes Benzes throughout the world, this is, without a question, a moving work of art. It has been extremely well maintained both mechanically and cosmetically. The body is particularly sound without any rust issues. Keep in mind this is a custom convertion with no top. The odometer reads 20,745 miles which we assume means that it has been driven less that 2,464 miles per year for a total of 120,745 miles but it looks like a 10,000 mile masterpiece. There were very few of the 220SE Sport Coupe with the high grille and four Bucket Seats made and that makes this a very rare specimen indeed. When you think about the 280SE 3.5 Convertible going for well over $125,000.00 today it makes you realize that this exceptional example will not be far behind in escalating value. It is finished in a  German Marron with an impeccable  Camel interior, highlighted with beautifully kept  woodwork . It is fitted with the Mercedes 2.2L straight 6 cylinder FI  engine which affords one excellent handling and driving pleasure. It is fully 4 speed automatic trans; front two  wheel disc brake and two rear drum brakes, and tight handling suspension. I am immensely proud of this moving work of art and I truly believe you will never find another in this pristine condition at this price. Everywhere I go, I get outstanding compliments. This is for the alert collector who is looking for an excellent return on their investment while being able to drive their dream motorcar.

Unlike other collectors who photograph their cars in professionally lighted studios or in Hollywood driveways, I shoot mine in my driveway using nothing other than natural lighting. So what you see is exactly what you get, A gorgeous rare collector's car that will maintain as well as continually go up in value, it’s a great summer classic for budget oriented person. Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.

Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-Class V8 Supercar completes the field [w/videos]

Sat, 23 Feb 2013

Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG.
Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG. Regulations dictate that it have roughly 650 horsepower, a redline between 7,000 and 7,500 rpm and a torque curve that matches the parity baseline set for all cars.
Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade and Maro Engel will drive the three team cars, each with different sponsors. Their first showing will be at the Clipsal 500 on March 3 in Adelaide, here in the US we'll get to see them in May at the Circuit of the Americas. Check out the videos below of the Erebus car starting up at its launch, and footage of all of this year's cars doing pre-season testing on track together.

How could a lifted Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG be more awesome? Add an axle

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

We are fully confident in saying that this will be the most amazing thing you see all day. First of all, it's a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen - in AMG spec, no less. And it's being shown off in high-definition video glory, blasting through the desert, jumping over sand dunes, and generally being awesome. But here's the kicker: It has six wheels. Three axles. And they're all driven. Holy $%!#.
Under the hood is AMG's usual 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8, and total output is rated at 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. That's impressive and all, but do keep in mind that the G63 6x6 weighs in at 8,322 pounds or, you know, the weight of two E-Class sedans. Combine that with its 18 inches of ground clearance, 37-inch tires and five locking differentials and you've got a vehicle capable of, well, everything you've ever imagined or will ever imagine for the rest of your life.
But the goodness doesn't stop once you open the doors. Oh, no. This thing is fit for a king - or a sheik, more appropriately - with ultimately luxurious seating for four. The rear bench seat has been removed in favor of two bucket seats with a fixed console in the middle, and the rear seats have been moved back beyond the usual B pillar to allow for more legroom.
