1994 Honda Civic Del Sol Si Coupe 2-door 1.6l on 2040-cars

Year:1994 Mileage:155645
Location:

West Hartford, Connecticut, United States

West Hartford, Connecticut, United States

First, the odd thing.  VIN# decodes as an Si.  Engine clearly states VTEC on it (see pictures).  Go figure.  Never noticed until I ran the VIN through the decoder.

From 1994 to 2003 this was a winter only car.  From 2003 to present it was my daily commuter and weekend errand runner.  I'm not much fun, and frugal on gas, so I didn't tear around town at high speed, etc.

Condition:
The bad:
Left side door was hit.  Door, locks, window still function fine (see pics)
Body rust on lower rear left and right side (see pics)
CEL code #41, primary oxygen sensor heater
Starter needs a couple turns of the key when it's really cold (like under 32 degrees)
Center exhaust pipe needs replacing (current one was welded in as we could not source a center pipe in reasonable time)
Chips on hood and side. Car was repainted original color in August 2008
Stereo does not work (it's an after market Sony CD). I will throw in a used Sony Bluetooth radio that I have not installed yet
Antenna is missing.
left side driver seat upholstery is worn on left bolster

The good:
Runs great
Low mileage
All original parts, no mods made (beyond exhaust system)
Current windshield is 2 1/2 years old
non-smoker
29+ MPG (city/highway)

History:
I am second owner, having purchased car in 2000 with 35K miles on it.
Only accidents have been a left driver side door dent when someone hit the car when they backed out of their driveway; left rear quarter panel damage when I hit a pole; a piece of concrete (about gold ball size) fell from a truck and dinged the hood.  Ding and rear quarter panel repaired when I had entire car repainted in August 2008.  Door dent is still present.

Payment:
Deposit of $300 via paypal due within 48 hours of sale.
Balance do in cash at time of pick-up.
You must bring your own plates to transport.
Within a 100 mile range I will drive car to you for $1 per mile (round trip) payable upfront via paypal.

Car is located in Silver Spring, MD.  If you wish to inspect prior to bid contact me.  If you have additional questions, contact me.

Car is also for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction early, even if there are bids made.

Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Nissan recall 3.4 million vehicles for faulty airbags

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

Most vehicle recalls that take place these days are a result of some problem that happens during the manufacturing process by the automaker, but as we see here, parts suppliers can also factor in to problematic safety issues. Automotive News is reporting that a total of 3.4 million vehicles produced by Japanese automakers between 2000 and 2004 are being recalled globally due to faulty airbags produced by an outside supplier, Takata Corp.
According to the report, vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda are being recalled because of passenger front airbags that do not inflate properly. Globally, Toyota is said to be recalling around 1.73 million cars including 510,000 in the US composed of Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia and Tundra as well as the Lexus SC430 for the 2001 through 2003 model years; this is the second time this year the 2003 Corolla and Matrix have been recalled for an airbag problem. Honda is recalling 1.14 million models, Nissan another 480,000 and Mazda 45,463. The article says that Takata supplied faulty airbags to non-Japanese automakers, but it did not specify which ones.
Honda and Toyota have released information on their own websites about the recall, while Nissan and Mazda have not yet commented. Read official press releases from Honda and Toyota, below, and look for updates as we have word from the others.

Honda motorcycles most stolen, just like Honda autos

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

It comes as no surprise that Honda's Civic and Accord are the most stolen cars in America, but as it turns out, thieves like the company's motorcycles the most too, according to a study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). Out of the 46,061 two-wheelers stolen in 2012, 9,082 of them were Hondas. While that's bad news for Honda motorcycle owners, at least motorcycle theft went down slightly from 2011, which had 46,667 reported thefts. Motorcycle theft recoveries, on the other hand, were just 39 percent.
Yamaha is up next in the theft rankings (7,517), then Suzuki (7,017). The numbers drop a bit for fourth and fifth place, Kawasaki (4,839) and Harley-Davidson (3,755). These five brands are far and away the most stolen motorcycles: sixth place, apparently held by scooter, dirtbike and ATV maker Taotao, dropped to 914 theft reports.
California had the most reported thefts (6,082), followed by Florida (4,110), Texas (3,400), North Carolina (2,574) and Indiana (2,334). By city, New York City had the most reported thefts (903), followed by Las Vegas (757), San Diego (633), Indianapolis (584) and Miami (535.

Acura NSX to be built in Ohio in 2015

Tue, 14 May 2013

Honda today confirmed that the forthcoming Acura NSX hybrid supercar will be built at a brand-new facility in Ohio. This will be the company's third plant in Ohio, and will come as the result of a $70 million investment. Honda first hinted that NSX production would be coming to Ohio when the original concept car was revealed at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
Honda's new facility, called the Performance Manufacturing Center, will encompass a 184,000-square foot space inside of the automaker's former North American Logistics building and will employ 100 associates. As you might expect, the Performance Manufacturing Center is located just a few miles from Honda's American-based R&D facility, as well as the Marysville auto plant, where production of the 2014 Accord Hybrid will kick off this fall.
"The location of this facility is in the midst of one of the greatest collections of engineering and production talent in the world. So it makes sense that we will renew the dream and build this high-tech, supercar in Marysville, Ohio," said Hidenobu Iwata, president and CEO of Honda of America, in a press release.
