1974 Vw Beetle on 2040-cars
Corvallis, Oregon, United States
It would take very little to do a complete restore on this bug or just leave it alone and drive it for fun. This is a strong running bug I have had no issues with it. Everything works minus the seat belt safety interlock. I disconnected this as it was a relay issue that would lock the car out from starting. For more information on this circuit a search on The Samba.com website explains it very well. I hate getting rid of it as these beetles only increase in collectible value. I have too many cars. The floor pans are fine and the only area with any rust is right below the crescent vent on drivers side...it just started this year and is surface rust so sand and repaint area would do the trick. Original upholstery is in surprising shape....headliner has a couple small tears that is it. Dash is fine. It has an aftermarket stereo not original radio. Feel free to ask any questions...I have relisted as I somehow put the wrong mileage and pix of incorrect speedo...like I said I have too many cars...the tires have less than 100 miles on them. The Optima battery was just put in at the beginning of summer......I was fighting with camera and the sun on a couple of the photos, the doors are the same Phoenix red as is the engine area......happy bidding.
On Sep-01-14 at 08:06:53 PDT, seller added the following information: go to The Samba VW Forum and search for VW restoration...ebay is not allowing me to put in actual links sorry. Another link to verify the VIN range is shrinkdesign dot com/ sebeetles lovebug.

VW says it has sold over 100,000 TDI diesels in America this year
Thu, 26 Dec 2013Volkswagen Group of America has lit oil-burning fireworks to celebrate the sales of more than 100,000 TDI Clean Diesel vehicles in the US between its VW and Audi brands this year. According to VW, that means it is responsible for more than 75 percent of diesel-engined cars and SUVs sold here - perhaps not surprising when the two brands offer a total of 12 diesel models.
What might be surprising is that the number of diesels isn't far off the estimated sales of 90,000 battery electric vehicles and PHEVs, with 15,000 of those accounted for by the Tesla Model S, another 12,000 or so being the Toyota Prius PHEV.
VW's keen to play up the ease of making diesel part of your life, stressing that it doesn't need any change to the refueling infrastructure and that "this is a technology delivering real answers to society's concerns about fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions without compromises."
VW launches special edition Touareg X
Tue, 03 Dec 2013Volkswagen is no stranger to special editions, but its Touareg SUV has remained largely unspecial in terms of exclusive trims or unique packages. That's changed with the announcement of the Touareg X, a 1,000-unit run based on the V6 TDI Lux trim - mid-range diesel model, between the navigation-equipped TDI Sport and the TDI R-Line.
The already special Touareg gets 19-inch "Moab" wheels, LED taillights (to go along with its LED DRLs) and "Touareg X" badging, while all 1,000 units will be painted Moonlight Blue Pearl. Tweaks in the cabin are equally light, with a black-on-black-on-black color scheme dominating - black Vienna leather, a black headliner and piano black trim. Aluminum bits make an appearance in the form of the door sills and pedals, although that's about it.
Other than those few aesthetic tweaks, the Touareg X is equipped largely like the Touareg Lux on which it's based. That means navigation, a panoramic sunroof, power seats, LED running lights, dual-zone air conditioning and heated power seats, among other tech pieces. Pricing starts at $56,170, making for a slight bump of $1,195 over the standard Touareg Lux.
VW investigating Golf water leak discovered by car magazine
Sat, 07 Sep 2013Volkswagen is in a spat with German magazine Auto Bild over claims that its new, seventh-generation Golf may already need a recall. The German weekly reports that new Golfs can leak water into front-passenger footwells due to a faulty drainage tube in their air conditioning systems.
And while the fix itself doesn't sound too terrible, because Volkswagen bases so many cars off the same platform as the Golf, Auto Bild is claiming that 300,000 models could be affected, including the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. That's a very bold claim. For its part, VW is vehemently denying that number, according to Reuters, saying it's aware of the problem and claiming only 46 Golfs need fixing. In addition, it denies that any Audi or Seat models are affected by the issue.
Either way, regardless of how pervasive this leak issue is, North American buyers should rest easy knowing that the problems ought to get fixed by the time the Mk VII Golf finaly reaches our dealerships.
