Thank you for taking the time to read the entire ad, if the ad is still up then we still have the car. The car for sale is the 1st picture, the other pictures in the ad are the same year make and model car just customized a bit.

This is a car I bought for my son and I to fix up....this would be our third we have done but our first custom wagon. We have been working on it a bit and will continue to work on it, the price will adjust as we do more to it. So if you are interested in buying it as it sits today it is $1400. The other two cars got finished before they were sold, this one may or may not but we put them online as we go as different people have different tastes and may not like the changes we make but want to purchase the car as a platform for their own tastes.

It's a 78 Corolla wagon deluxe has a great running stock famous 2TC 1.6L race engine capable of up to 400hp engine and a 3 speed automatic A40 03-55 Aisin/Borg Warner tranny. The car was being used as a daily driver by the person we bought it from.

I have driven it about 50 miles since we got it, it is a very nimble and fun car to drive it is very light (about 2000 lbs) I have taken it on the highway and up to 65mph and it cuts through the air great, in the last week my son and I have put a brand new water pump and waterpump/alternator belt, new valve cover gasket, platinum plugs, new complete distributor, a cap and a rotor a new coil and plug wires and changed the engine oil and filter.

In the next two weeks we plan to change the rear diff fluid, service the tranny (reverse and 3rd gear are a  little weak), buy a new battery, buff out the other body pieces (only the driver door and passenger fender have been buffed out so far the entire paint job will polish up with another 3 to 4 hours of elbow grease) order new tires and rims, tint the windows and get the air conditioning working (the ac is all there but there is no belt on the compressor so we will see what it's going to take these old systems are easy).

After that we will be thinking about paint ideas or may just keep the factory paint and putting a header manifold on it with a good muffler and a full new exhaust (current exhaust is just fine) and then maybe suspension modifications.

All the accessories lights wipers heater blinkers etc etc work now except the a/c. The car has a clean clear OK title and current tag to Sept 2013, it is not all rusted out nor has it ever been wrecked all the glass is good all the gauges work and the car has just over 100k miles we are the 4th owner. The first owner had it for its first 85k miles the second bought it and kept it for a few months and sold it to his friend the third owner and he brought it up to its current mileage which is about 112k. The car has all 4 center caps (the back one is off in this picture) and a full size spare with the same rim.

If servicing the tranny does not make the tranny work perfect I will be pulling it and rebuilding it and the price of the car will be $2000 with the tranny rebuilt.

The car is located in Claremore, Ok and can be delivered as far as Houston or even Galveston or anywhere in between through Dallas for the cost of fuel.

Thanks for reading-have a good day

Hyundai tops Toyota in annual CarMD Vehicle Health Index

Fri, 06 Dec 2013

CarMD has released its third annual Vehicle Health Index, which for the 2013 tracked the frequency and cost of repairs for "check engine" problems of 119-million vehicles built between the 2003 and 2013 model years. For the first two years of the index, Toyota ranked at the top of the list, but this year's results see Hyundai moved to number one, pushing Toyota down a spot.
The Korean automaker's rise to the top has been "fueled by its low repair frequency," according to CarMD. Toyota is second to Hyundai in lowest repair frequency, but Toyotas also have the highest average cost of repair. (Interestingly, General Motors vehicles have the lowest average.) Both Toyota's and Hyundai's manufacturer "health" ratings suffered this year, but Toyota took a bigger hit, which also is what helped Hyundai achieve the top ranking.
While Hyundai is the top manufacturer in the index, the 2012 Toyota Camry is the top vehicle. The best-ranking Hyundai was the 2010 Elantra (behind three Nissan models and four Toyotas), which took the number eight spot. Hyundai has six other vehicles in the top 100.

Solid-state batteries: Why Toyota's plans could be a game-changer for EVs

Tue, Jul 25 2017

Word out of Japan today is that Toyota is working on launching a new solid-state battery for electric vehicles that will put it solidly in the EV game by 2022. Which leads to a simple question: What is a solid-state battery, and why does it matter? Back in February, John Goodenough observed, "Cost, safety, energy density, rates of charge and discharge and cycle life are critical for battery-driven cars to be more widely adopted." And risking a bad pun on his surname, he seemed to be implying that all of those characteristics weren't currently good enough in autos using lithium-ion batteries. This comment is relevant because Goodenough, professor at the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin - it so happens, he turns 95 today - is the co-inventor of the lithium-ion battery, the type of battery that is pretty much the mainstay of current electric vehicles. And he and a research fellow at U of T were announcing they'd developed a solid-state battery, one that has improved energy density (which means a car so equipped can drive further) and can be recharged more quickly and more often (a.k.a., "long cycle life") than a lithium-ion battery. (Did you ever notice that with time your iPhone keeps less of a charge than it did back when it was shiny and new? That's because it has a limited cycle life. Which is one thing when you're talking about a phone. And something else entirely when it involves a whole car.) What's more, there is reduced mass for a solid-state battery. And there isn't the same safety concern that exists with li-ion batteries vis-a- vis conflagration (which is why at airplane boarding gates they say they'll check your carryon as long as you remove all lithium-ion batteries). Lithium-ion batteries may be far more advanced than the lead-acid batteries that are under the hood of essentially every car that wasn't built in Fremont, Calif., but as is the case with those heavy black rectangles, li-ion batteries contain a liquid. In the lithium-ion battery, the liquid, the electrolyte, moves the lithium ions from the negative to the positive side (anode to cathode) of the battery. In a solid-state design, there is no liquid sloshing around, which also means that there's no liquid that would freeze at low operating temperatures. What Toyota is using for its solid-state battery is still unknown, as is the case for the solid-state batteries that Hyundai is reportedly working on for its EVs.

Watch this cement truck roll into Toyota minivan from driver's point of view

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

If you've been having an easy day and haven't received your daily dose of unmitigated terror, then this video is for you. Dr. Guan Zhu, a Texas A&M professor, caught the above view on his dashcam in College Station, TX, as a cement truck ran a red light, lost control and rolled into his Toyota Sienna minivan.
Although he received only minor injuries, Dr. Zhu says that he blacked out during the accident. The truck driver also avoided serious injuries, and the Sienna took the hit rather well too. Scroll down to watch the footage and report from KBTX. Hopefully, this is as close anyone else ever gets to a terrifying event of this nature.
