Offering for sale as is, where is. I have a porsche 924 non turbo. I originally bought this car for my Daughter but she has decided she wants something else. This one has to go before she can purchase something different. The 1981 model is the rarest of the 924's produced, total imports to the US were 2155 cars. Here is a link to the NADA price guide for this car http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1981/Porsche/924/2-Door-Coupe/Values

I just put 4 new tires on this car and it has not been driven 1 mile since putting them on. The old ones were starting to weather crack. I dont have license or insurance on this car so I took the rims off and hauled them to the tire shop. The only time they have hit the road is out of the driveway and into my cul de sac. The car has new side windows and a new front windshield. Some neighbor kids shot them out with a BB gun and were caught in action. Their parents paid to have them replaced with new. The passenger side door window is off the track for some reason and I haven't had time to take the car back to the installer. I'd have to load it on a trailer and haul it back down to fix it. It rolls up and down fine but leans toward the rear when rolling it up, you have to level it out by hand then roll it all the way up. It also has a new battery purchased last summer.

The paint is decent and there are minor dings and dents. The only real dents can be seen in the video's. One above the right rear wheel and one on the right front fender. Neither of which appear creased, should pop out. The driver mirror is loose, has to be taken off and tightened.

This is a 32 yr old car so perfection isn't gonna happen. There are various small issues to be expected with a unrestored car of this vintage. That being said this is one of the better unrestored 924's you will find. Runs good, steering tight and rides good. Reminds me of driving a go cart on steroids.

The engine runs well and sounds well. Transaxle shifts good and firm, clutch is good. The rear wheel cylinders started leaking a few Months ago. I installed new shoes and wheel cylinder kits. I did not have a .750 hone so I put the kits in without honing the cylinders. Guess what, they leaked again. Good thing is it has not been driven since so the kits probably are still good. Should just have to take them back out and hone the cylinders. Before they started leaking the brakes worked great. As you can hear in the video it has a belt squeal. I had not messed with this car since back in the summer so the battery was low. Cold here and the belt started squealing when I turned on the heat. Guess charging a low battery and running the heat was too much for a worn out belt. I wasn't gonna tighten it just for a video. It was 20 degrees outside. The AC worked last time it was used but the belt came off and has never been put back on. Everything is there except the belt.

The interior is like most cars of this age. Worn and faded. Everything except the tach is working. You can see in the video that the speedo is sticking out. I put in a new speedometer cable when I did the brakes. After the brakes were found to still be leaking I never finished putting the speedo in right. Kinda aggravated that day and just left it alone.

All the original tools and spare are still in the back. The leather suit bag and owners manual are still in the car.

Basically it is a 32 yr old sports car that runs and drives well. Needs a little TLC to be perfect. If you were looking for a restoration car this would be a perfect starting point. Looking for a daily driver here it is. These cars offer performance and handling along with a advertised 35 mpg highway.

This is located in Oakwood, OH 45873. Beware, there are 3 Oakwoods in Ohio. Look up the zip, we are in NorthWest, OH close to Paulding. The car is out in the driveway if you want to come look and hear it contact me.

Available for local pick up. Except for the leaky brake cylinders it is road worthy. You can fill the master cylinder and it takes a fewdays to leak down. You could probably drive it home. If you want it shipped you will have to make all of the arrangements. Due to my work schedule I can't help you out with shipping.

I've included links to youtube video's of this car that I took today. These video's should answer most questions but if you have any others ask and I'll try to answer.

Porsche reviving 718 name for new Boxster and Cayman

Thu, Dec 10 2015

The next-generation Boxster and Cayman are coming next year, and when they launch, they'll have a new name: 718. There's historical significance there – in 1957, Porsche launched the 718 racecar with a mid-mounted, four-cylinder engine. And when the new Boxster and Cayman come to market, they'll be powered by a new turbocharged, flat-four engine, mounted amidships just like in the current cars. That powertrain isn't a surprise, but the name change certainly is. Officially, the cars will be called 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, and Porsche says the two models "will share more similarities than ever before," both visually and mechanically. What's more, Porsche confirms the 718 Boxster will carry a higher price tag than the 718 Cayman, which is a switch from the company's current pricing strategy – right now, a base Cayman costs $500 more than a standard Boxster. Technical details haven't been confirmed yet, but an earlier report suggests the 2.0-liter flat-four will produce 240 horsepower in the base cars and 300 hp in the S models. GTS versions are tipped to produce as much as 370 hp from this same flat-four engine. Both 718 models will be unveiled throughout the course of 2016. Have a look below for Porsche's official statement. Related Video: Boxster and Cayman to be branded as 718 model range next yearPorsche's mid-engine sports cars to receive new name Atlanta, Georgia. The mid-engine sports cars from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG will be named 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, respectively, when the models are introduced over the course of 2016. The 718 designation is a reference to the ground-breaking sports car Porsche introduced back in 1957, which achieved great success in a number of renowned car races. The 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman will share more similarities than ever before – both visually and technically. In the future, both will have equally powerful turbocharged flat-four cylinder engines. The Roadster will be positioned at a higher price level than the Coupe – as is the case with the 911 models. The 718 model range is driven by the four-cylinder concept and the history of distinguished Porsche sports cars. The latest example is the 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car, which is powered by a highly-efficient, turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine.

Porsche Mission E Concept puts Tesla Model S in its sights [w/video] [UPDATE]

Mon, Sep 14 2015

UPDATE: The Mission E might not top the Tesla in driving distance after all. The Porsche's nearly 311-mile range is on the European testing cycle, but the original story compares it to Teslas on the US evaluation. According to Tesla, a Model S 85D is rated at the equivalent of 328 miles in Europe, and the P85D is at 305 miles. The new 90 kWh battery can add an additional six percent to those figures. Porsche might not be saying it directly, but anyone taking even a quick glance can see the Germans are taking aim at Tesla with the freshly unveiled Mission E concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. With over 590 horsepower, this electric sedan doesn't have quite as much electric grunt as a Model S, but the claimed 310.7 miles of range would outdo even the latest take on Elon Musk's four-door with a 90 kWh battery. For those keeping track, a Ludicrous Speed-equipped Tesla might still be the ultimate victor in a drag race because the E's sprint to 62 takes "under 3.5 seconds." To power the Mission E, Porsche's engineers use two permanent magnet synchronous motors, and they are similar to what's found on the company's 919 Hybrid LMP1 racecar. In a single unit, the devices can both accelerate and recover braking energy. All-wheel drive with torque vectoring and four-wheel steering help the electric sedan lap the Nordschleife in less than eight minutes, the company claims. Capable of hitting 124 mph in less than 12 seconds, the Mission E is undoubtedly quick, but its speed in charging is especially impressive too. The concept utilizes an 800-volt system that Porsche claims can charge the sedan to 80 percent in just 15 minutes, assuming you can find a source for that much energy. That would be enough to offer about 249 miles of range in less time than getting a cup of coffee at a busy Starbucks. The E could also use a traditional 400-volt charger or power up inductively. The Mission E's design looks like a futuristic Panamera as filtered through the style of the 918 and a next-gen Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet. In an especially cool touch, the charging port is hidden in a movable panel ahead of the driver's door on the front fender. Also, like like lots of four-door concepts in recent memory, the design sports suicide doors with no B-pillars. To keep weight to a minimum, the body mixes aluminum, steel, and carbon-fiber reinforced polymer. Also present are carbon-fiber wheels.

Porsche Mission E set for launch by 2020

Fri, Dec 4 2015

Porsche will bring the Mission E electric sedan to production by 2020. The company's board just gave the thumbs up for further development of the vehicle on Dec. 4. "Even in a greatly changing motoring world, Porsche will maintain its front-row position with this fascinating sports car," Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, chairman of the supervisory board of Porsche AG, said in the model's announcement. The Mission E debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show as a long-slung sedan in a mix of aluminum, steel, and carbon-fiber reinforced polymer. The concept featured two permanent magnet synchronous motors with over 590 horsepower, all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, and four-wheel steering. Porsche claimed that the model could reach 62 miles per hour in less than 3.5 seconds and offer a 500-kilometer (310.7-mile) range on the European testing cycle. Plus, the brand alleged the vehicle could lap the Nordschleife in less than eight minutes. The concept version also boasted an 800-volt charger to provide 80 percent of the range just 15 minutes after the driver plugged it in. We won't know for some time how much of this cutting-edge tech will actually arrive on the production version, but building the Mission E will coincide with 700-million euros ($765 million) in updates to the Porsche factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. In the coming years, the company will upgrade its engine factory to assemble electric motors. The automaker will also add a new paint shop, assembly plant, and enlarged body shop there. Mission E, Concept Car, Press Conference IAA , Frankfurt, 2015, Porsche AG With the Mission E project, Porsche is continuing to back sustainable growth. In Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen alone more than 1,000 new jobs are being created. The company will be investing around 700 million euros in its main site there. Over the next few years, a new paint shop and a new assembly plant will be built. The existing engine factory is also being expanded for the production of electric motors. In addition, the existing body shop is being enlarged.
