I picked this car up a while back sight unseen,  It did not arrive in the condition as described.  It was supposed to be a fantastic running and driving car,  with some dents, dings, and a little rust. When it finally showed up,  I was pleased to find less rust than I feared, but it barely made it into my garage under it's own power, and the brakes were locking up.  It was time to get to work


First up,  I went through the brakes.  Virtually every part of the brake system is new or rebuilt where you can't buy new.

Rebuilt front and rear calipers (Very Expensive) 
Discs were cleaned up as they are within spec
It stops great now,  and does not have any brake drag that is so common on early Porsches

Then it came to the motor,  which while rebuilt, barely ran upon arrival.  I spent a fair amount of time replacing parts
Rebuilt 031 Porsche 912 only Distributor. Rebuilt original fuel pump (expensive!)
Pertronix Electronic points replacement
Cap Rotor Sparkplugs ETC
Adjusted valves
Removed and re-installed exhaust to replace the gaskets

I could not get the original Solex split shaft P11-40 carburetors to work for me,  So I added freshly rebuilt Dellorto 40 DRLA carbs
The original Solex carbs are valuable,  and will be included with the car.  They actually look to be recently rebuilt,  but those split shafts are tricky and it takes a lot of patience and experience to get them right.

I replaced the pedal assembly with a restored one,  with upgraded brass bushings instead of the plastic. 
Also replaced the 3 accelerator rod bushings in the tunnel.  The accelerator rod damper and some belcrank stuff as well
I added the brand new replica early alloy wheels and brand new Firestone 560 tires.  They are Period correct
The gauges work,  Temp, Fuel, Speedo, Tach.  The odometer does not work. They do light up with the headlights as they should
The turn signals work at speed,  but not while stopped.  Common Classic Porsche problem
The horns are not connected to the nardi button.  They worked with the stock steering wheel
I do have the original blaupunkt radio for the car as well, included. I do have steel wheels that we can discuss,  2 4.5's, 1 5.5 and 1 356 Wheel and hubcaps


The car looks great but it does have dents and dings and a little rust in the rocker area.  One dent on the hood,  where it looks like someone pushed on the hood.  The paint in the dent is cracked. One dent on the drivers rear fender.  This is the worst dent on the car.  The paint is cracked in this dent as well
It's got dings, It's got scratches, like at the gas flap door where the paint is always scratched from filling up and hitting with the nozzle
The floors are clean and free of rust, see the pics. There is a rust bubble in the paint on the passenger side door in the corner. You can see this in the pics.
The rockers have a little rust.  The doors are super clean and shut with the ping that they should.  The front pan area is clean including the suspension area, see the pics.  Under the hood and in the back is clean as well


The interior is original. Couple scratches in the leather but excellent condition.  I didnt touch it nor does it need it.
The door panels are original and excellent.  The headliner could use a cleaning but it's pretty nice. 
I added the vintage Nardi wheel,  I do have the Porsche steering wheel but I think it may be later 911 padded leather.  not sure
I added a reproduction but correct shift knob
The sun visors are correct and nice


The Motor runs cool on the freeway and even in stop and go traffic. It has a fairly recent rebuild with larger 1720 Pistons, and a mild port job.  It may have a slightly hotter cam.
It sounds great and has plenty of power when you want it.  It idles at 900 and cruises well at around 3K RPMs, from 3K to 6500RPM's is a blast. 
I do drive the car locally but I have never driven the car further than 60 or so miles at a time.  I have had it past 100mph recently and it feels as a Porsche should
I just changed the oil and filter and it came out clean,  no metal shavings or anything unexpected.
The engine tin is all powder coated and nice


This is a great honest car. It could use some paint and fiddling around type of tuning work to make it perfect but is absolutely beautiful as is. If you made it this far,  you know Porsche's, you know early short wheel base cars, and you've watched the prices skyrocket.  You've seen how these early 3 gauge cars are especially sought after and command higher prices.  You've also seen rust buckets go for ridiculously high prices. You've watched thesamba, eBay, Etc. I have too

I will keep the car insured and garaged until pick up, but please be mindful about picking up within 2 weeks.  My garage space is at a premium.  Speaking of insurance,  it is currently insured at $25K agreed value with Hagerty,  it runs about $200 a year.  They actually want to bump it up to $30K,  they too follow classic Porsche prices.

DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper

Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid

Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."

COMO, Italy — Held annually, the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance is, in many ways, Europe's version of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It takes place in a beautiful location, and it brings together an impressive selection of rare and valuable cars. It's a real treat for the eyes, the ears, and, if you're into champagne, the palate. The 2022 edition of the show was no exception: About 50 cars were shipped to Lake Como from over a dozen countries, and it wasn't just the usual suspects. Sure, there were a lot of pre-war cars (including a couple of one-off models), but some of the icons that younger enthusiasts grew up with (like the Lamborghini Countach) were present as well. This year's event was split into eight categories: The Art Deco Era of Motor Car Design, The Supercharged Mercedes-Benz, How Grand Entrances Were Once Made, Eight Decades of Ferrari Represented in Eight Icons, "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday," BMW's M Cars and Their Ancestors, Pioneers That Chased the Magic 300 KPH, And a design award for concept and prototypes. The jury gave the coveted "best of show" award to a 1937 Bugatti 57 S owned by Andrew Picker of Monaco, while the aforementioned classes were won by, respectively: The Bugatti 57 S, shown below, A 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet, A 1956 Chrysler Boano Coupe Speciale, A 1966 Ferrari 356 P Berlinetta Speciale Tre Posti, A 1961 Porsche 356 B Carrera Abarth GTL, A 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL, A 1989 Porsche 959 Sport, And the Bugatti Bolide concept unveiled in 2020. Winning at Villa d'Este is a big deal: The cars are judged by a panel of highly experienced judges. No one gave me a scoring sheet, presumably out of fear that I'd award points to the late-model Fiat 600 lurking in the parking lot, but several cars that didn't win an award caught my eye. One is a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports, a grand-prix racer that was once owned by King Leopold III of Belgium and that has never been restored — its patina is inimitable. Another is a 1961 BMW 700 RS. One of two built (the other is in the BMW collection), it's a tiny, ultra-light roadster related to the 700 and powered by a 697-cubic-centimeter air-cooled flat-twin tuned to develop 70 horsepower. It won several hill-climb events during the 1960s, and it's one of the rarest cars ever to wear a BMW roundel. Aston Martin's freshly-restored 1979 Bulldog concept was cool to see as well; check out the cassette player integrated into the headliner!
