1991 Porsche 911 C2 Cab, 51k Miles, Sat For Few Years, Clean Project, No Reserve on 2040-cars

You're looking at my gorgeous 1991 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 2 cabriolet, finished in bright white with near perfect lipstick red leather (white piping on seats) with only 51k original miles. The car is super clean, but has been sitting for a few years covered and I don't have time to fool with it now as we just bought a new river house and I'm selling several of my 911's to put towards the purchase/remodel. I am selling this car as a project. It is 100% complete and original. The car is very pretty (has clean carfax) and the interior is super nice, as is the body. All gaps are nice. The soft top is good, but the rear plastic window is shot...cracking and discolored. Dash is perfect with no cracks. The factory rims are gorgeous and tires show well but are older and most likely have flat spots from sitting. Since the car has been sitting for years, I didn't want to attempt to crank it over, but the motor turns. I would assume you would want to go through it though for safety/peace of mind reasons. I have no idea how the electrical is now as the battery is long dead, but everything is tidy and no rodents have gotten in. The body is dent free and the front trunk is clean as a pin. I have all manuals, some records, and all keys for it. Not much to say other than it is a nice project for someone and will only go up in value over the years. These air cooled Porsche's are going through the roof. This particular 911 is an automatic. I am selling several of my 911's (see my other listings) to raise money for the river house. I would be happy to do a package deal or help international buyers. The Port of Charleston is only about 3 hours from my home. I am a private collector, not a dealer, so all sales are final. No returns, and no warranties expressed or implied. Please make sure your funds are readily available as I require a $500 paypal deposit immediately following the end of the the auction (so I know you're serious) and full payment within 5 days of auction end. If you cannot do this, please do not bid. Thanks for looking and message me with any questions/offers. Happy bidding and good luck. This is a no reserve auction, so the last bid wins!

Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits
Wed, 15 May 2013The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.
A few pre-race notes and a lot of photos from the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sat, 14 Jun 2014The 82nd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is on.
Audi has won 12 of the last 15 events, the scion of Auto Union is trying to make it 13 this year. To do so, it will have to overcome a situation faced only three other times during its dominance of La Sarthe: underdog status. Toyota has won the first two races of the year and claimed pole for this race, the rumor being that this year it's Toyota's race to lose.
And then there's Porsche. It's been 16 years since the Stuttgart brand raced on the top rung at Le Mans, three years years since it announced its return, just a year since it acquired Mark Webber in a signing that wasn't subtle and a few months since we got eyes on the 919 Hybrid.
Porsche 911 and Citro"en DS lovechild would look like this
Wed, 06 Nov 2013The early Porsche 911 and the Citroën DS were two cars produced in the same era (though the DS launched in 1955, nearly 10 years before the 911), but they were vastly different from each other. The 911 was a uniquely German, pure-bred sports car, while the French-built DS had four doors and focused more on ride quality than sporting intentions. That made it all the more surprising when we came across the 911DS, a creation that binds the rear half of the Citroën to the front of an early, longhood 911.
The folks at Brandpowder are behind the creation, which we surmise was an exercise in design rather than an actual, completed project (some of the images look Photoshopped), but it's compelling nonetheless, with a turbocharged flat-six providing 260 horsepower. We hope someone builds it - though we're sure if that happened the early 911 crowd would cry afoul at one of its increasingly rare and valuable Porsches being grafted onto an old French car.
But as Brandpowder points out lightheartedly, perhaps the creation could transcend popular car culture: "The 911DS represents the effort of two countries, a genuine attempt to join their energy and talent into one thing. We hope Germany and France will be inspired by Brandpowder's story, as a metaphor for a better and greater Europe."
