Up for a NO RESERVE auction
today is a gorgeous, 1 Owner 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi sedan with 159k
miles. This SSEi was one of only 4,446 out of 74,015 total Bonnevilles produced
in 1997. I would rate the exterior of
this Bonneville to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for the age and mileage of
this vehicle. As you can see, this is a gorgeous vehicle. It is finished in
dark cherry metallic with a supple taupe leather interior. While the exterior
is not flawless, it shows extremely well for a 16 year old vehicle. The body
lines up nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk open/close easily. All of
the exterior trim is intact and in good condition. This Bonneville has
obviously been garage kept. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The alloy
wheels show extremely well and are wrapped in a good set of rubber with above
average tread. There is a small scrape on the bottom right front bumper near
the fog light, and a touch up on the left front corner of the bumper. The airbag light is on, and the
interior lights do not appear to be functioning correctly. Please take your time and check
out each of the photos carefully to see how nice this SSEi looks!
I would rate the interior of
this Bonneville to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION for the age and mileage of this
vehicle. As you can see, the previous owner has taken excellent care of this
vehicle. Pride in ownership is extremely noticeable when looking over this
SSEi. The door panels are clean and tight. All of the buttons are present and
work properly. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the cabin. A
full set of original SSEi floor mats are included as well. The dash and
headliner are clean. The leather seats are supple and comfortable. Both front
seats are power operated and go in a variety of different directions and have
many adjustments for your comfort. The power windows, locks, seats and mirrors
all work properly. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to
be working properly. The air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The audio
system is the original BOSE equalized sound system which powers up and works
properly, except that the bulb for the radio display is out. This is a common
Pontiac problem. It also has a tire inflator in the trunk, but I did not test
it. A full set of owners books are also included. The trunk is spacious and
clean.
Mechanically, this Bonny
appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 3.8L Supercharged V6
engine starts right up and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the
engine does not smoke. Her road manners are excellent. It is truly a pleasure
to drive this car. The suspension feels tight. The steering feels neutral and
responsive. The brakes stop this full sized sport sedan with no issues. The
engine makes good power and cruises easily. The automatic transmission engages
smoothly and shifts normally with no issues. She is wearing current PA Safety
and Emissions inspection stickers good until July 2014. Out on the highway, she
cruises nice and straight with no complaints. This car was made for the interstate.
With the supercharger, this car can really get out of its own way! I had a new
water pump and set of drive belts
installed this week. The valve cover gaskets appear to be fairly new as well.
I welcome and encourage you
to come see, smell and drive this gorgeous Bonneville for yourself if you are
able. It is one of the finest examples I have seen in recent memory. I am sure
it will make its next owner extremely proud to drive it as well. As I stated before, no 16 year old vehicle is
perfect, this is why an in person inspection is encouraged. I try to point out
any apparent imperfections that I catch, but everyone analyzes things
differently. If you would like to discuss a BUY IT NOW Price, please contact me through eBay or at the number provided below. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
