I will write everything I can think of here and hopefully I won't forget anything. I hate when people aren't honest when selling their car (I've come across big issues that they did not fess up to). So here is everything. Ask if you have any questions. I bought this car 11/29/2010 and didn't put the title in my name til 5/6/11. The previous owners did not take good care of it. It has been in an accident which we could see the scrape on the bumper and found out later the trunk leaked badly. How bad the accident was I don't know but you can see where the trunk lid is slightly ajar. I took the spoiler off and resealed everything there (all around the edge and the screw holes) and that took care of the worst of the leaking but it still leaks some - if there is a heavy rain, you don't want stuff in your trunk. Also in trying to resolve everything - my garage got rid of the dry rotted spare but put a whole spare in the trunk which of course didn't fit in the wheel well. I finally got another compact to put in there but the rim center is too small for the jack/tools holder part so the trunk doesn't lay flat (but it's at least usable whereas it wasn't with a full size tire). The leaking might be resolved with new weather stripping but I'm not sure. Ever since I have owned it, it has done a hiccup, slight kick thing when doing a soft acceleration but as soon as you do a harder acceleration, it goes away. Don't know the cause of it and the garage didn't answer that question. Also there is a slight stick to the gas pedal sometimes when doing that first acceleration for that trip (the gas pedal doesn't stick down but you have to punch it to get the pedal to move). I'm told this is not the pedal itself but something else which I can't remember what they said. The plastic molding around the windows and paint off some of the metal on the window and windshield wipers is coming off. Just cosmetic. I intended to fix and just never could figure out what it was I needed to order. Driver side mirror has scraps from my mailbox post. The previous owners told me the CD player does not play. I don't know as I have not wanted to ruin/lose any of my CD's so I've just been using the radio. Service history (does not include all oil changes just the ones I kept the receipt for - I did change the oil and rotated tires on a regular basis): 5/31/11 - Rotors replaced front and back and new brakes put on 6/9/11 - Replaced AC Compressor and alignment 11/25/11 - Front axle (I think passenger side) replaced 12/29/11 - Fuel Sending Kit 1/20/12 - New battery 3/9/12 - Oil Change and 4 new tires (177,727 miles) 4/8/12 - Rotors turned and I can't read what the other thing was that was done (something cheap) 6/25/12 - Oil Change and rotate tires 8/22/12 - Left front hub assembly, oil change and new air filter 9/10/12 - Replaced coil (something with a misfire) 10/18/12 - Front passenger door repaired after a deer hit me (with me sitting still) - A little stiffer than the other doors but opens and closes fine 12/7/12 - Oil Change and tire rotation 12/12/12 - Air Flow Sensor replaced 3/7/13 - Oil change, tire rotation, fuel injector cleaner, Lucas treatment, Transmission kit The car makes noises, the fabric on the ceiling is separating, the LED lights for the clock/radio don't work well but I've been driving it at least 50 miles a day 4 days a week. I'm just ready for a luxury car. The car has not been driven since March/April. So it will need an oil change as well as air in the tires. I do move it in the drive way to try to prevent the tires rotting from sitting. $1000 (which is under KBB price). Sale is "as is" and final. Buyer is responsible for pickup/delivery. Any questions, please ask.

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
