                                                       1956 Mercury Phaeton

What we have up for auction is a 1956 Mercury Phaeton
owned by a buddy of mine. I'm listing this car for him. He has too many cars and needs to make some room.  It has
a 312 cubic inch Y-Block engine, believed to be the original from he was told. He bought it from the widow of a
gentlemen that had passed away. He had owned it for quite sometime. He had it painted a long time ago, we don't know the time period but we assume probably 20 yrs. It still looks good even though it does has some chips
and some wear on edges. The interior has a set of covers
over the original seats. He hasn't taken them off to look or
check it out. The door panels are in good condition along
with the headliner. Carpet looks good also. The trunk is
solid. The chrome shows some age but not bad.The motor
runs and starts real nice. Never fails to start hot or cold.
Doesn't overheat, trans shifts nice. It drives real good, you can drive it anywhere. All the lights work, heater works real
good. It has just had new tires, wheel cylinders and brake
hoses installed. New mufflers for the dual exhaust. It's just a real good driver and cruise-in car. There were only 23,493 Mercury Phaeton's made in 1956. The phaeton was the top of the line for the 4dr cars. This color combo of Salmon and white looks real nice on this car with all the
trim a Mercury has. It really catches your eye going down the road. Most people don't notice it is a 4dr with it not
having a post between the doors. It's priced fair so bid to
own.

non-refundable deposit at auction end within 3 days. The
remainder in 10 days by bank transfer or cash on pickup.
Car must be paid for in full before it is released. Clear

Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday

Mon, 04 Oct 2010

Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.

Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.

NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
