This beautiful California restoration is 3/4 of the way complete! I have kids now and can't finish the job. Completely rust free. 460 cu. in. engine and transmission overhauled 500 miles ago. The only miles put on were from the break-in process. Brand new Holley 600 cfm carbuerator. Rim-Blow steering wheel is restored. The entire steering column has been overhauled with new bearings, signal cam, rag joint, and ignition switch. Cabin is lined with Dynamat. Car has new body mounts, engine mounts, shocks, control arm bushings, wheel bearings, brake disks and drums. Wheel cylinders and brake pads are all new. Radiator has been re-cored. Hydraulic windshild wiper unit and power steering gear and pump have been overhauled. All signals and glass have been restored, cleaned, and resealed. All chrome is flawless. Much of the chrome trim has been re-plated. All power windows and motors (including quarter windows) have been overhauled. The engine compartement has been disassembled, blasted, and repainted. The exterior paint has been stripped and primed in black. I will provide all paperwork and documentation to the buyer. I will throw in the new stereo system and speakers for free. I have decals for the engine compartment to make this car look new from the showroom. Last but not least, I have an identical parts car that I will sign-over at no additional charge. Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch
Tue, 16 Jul 2013A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.
2002 Lincoln Continental concept should've made production, headed for auction instead
Fri, 26 Sep 2014It seems like the retro design aesthetic in autos might be petering out, with even a former poster child like the Ford Mustang taking a step in a more modern direction. Sometimes those updates of old-school models really worked well, though. Just take a look above at the Lincoln Continental concept from 2002 that took the extruded shape of the 1960s version and updated it for the new millennium.
Now there's a chance for this gorgeous concept to take a spot in your garage, as RM Auctions is selling it as part of a 130-plus-car, no-reserve auction of the Sam Pack Collection on November 14 and 15, in Dallas, TX. Among the lots for sale are a number of Fords, including several recent concepts from the brand. "My collecting philosophy is simple: buy what I like, but always with an emphasis on quality," Pack said in the auction announcement.
The Continental concept absolutely nails the mix of modern and retro. Its perfectly crisp lines make the shape appear hewn from a single piece of metal, and there's just the slightest ornamentation with the angled, chrome slats in the grille and chrome strips over the wheel arches. It even retains the suicide doors from its inspiration.
