1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car Base Hardtop 4-door 6.6l on 2040-cars

Year:1979 Mileage:57380 Color: is in good condition with well
Location:

New York, New York, United States

New York, New York, United States

Large and luxurious, this vehicle is fully-equipped with all the bells and whistles available in 1979. It has plush, quilted leather seats with leather piping, carpeted flooring, vent windows in front and oval opera windows in the rear. Other features include power steering, electric sunroof, fully electric seats, power windows and antenna, a quadraphonic 8-track tape player, (plus over 30 8-tracks thrown in for free), cruise control, and a CB radio. The car is equipped with a powerful 6.6 liter V-8 engine, and in near showroom condition with only 57,380 original miles.

The exterior is in good condition with well-preserved, original shiny gold paint and chrome, no rust. The beige vinyl top is in good condition as well. The car is accident free and has never had any body repair. The only minor flaws are two tiny dings in the trim above the wheels on the left hand side and a crack in the back left tail light (which could easily be replaced).

The interior upholstery and is clean and almost like new. Only the passenger side seat has slight cracks in the leather from normal wear and tear, but the interior wood paneling, the dash cluster and all other elements are in perfect condition down to the last detail. A couple of the electric locks don't work and one window motor is weak, but in the right hands with a few minor adjustments this car could easily be restored to concours condition.

The break system was recently serviced including replacement of the master cylinder, the carburetor has been rebuilt, and new fuel pump and shocks have been installed. The AC has been upgraded from R-12 to to current R134A standards and blows cold. She's running better than ever, was inspected last month and ready for her next road trip!

This All-American Classic Car gets photographed constantly, thumbs up all over, and makes people smile. She has been featured in articles, and starred on the Fox show The Americans in 2013, and even appears on the Wikipedia page under '79 Lincoln Continental (no joke; and we didn't post it). It has been driven across the country on road trips and makes for a very smooth and comfortable ride.
We've enjoyed the car for almost three years and it's been well-cared for. This Continental Town Car is just one step away from becoming a collector's car of exhibition quality.

Sold as is. For questions feel free to email before the auction ends.

Lincoln reveals MKC compact crossover ahead of LA debut [w/video]

    Wed, 13 Nov 2013

It used to be that if you wanted a luxury SUV, you had to go big. Just look at the first high-riders released by some of the major luxury automakers - Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX - and you'll see what we mean. But since 2009 the small premium crossover segment has grown a whopping 200 percent, so it's no surprise that each has followed up with smaller luxury crossovers. And this is the latest.
At the other end of the utility spectrum from the Navigator, the new Lincoln MKC is based on the Ford Escape (much as the old pseudo-premium Mercury Mariner was), but completely rebodied and luxed up to put it in another league. Although we're still not sold on Lincoln's family fascia, the grille treatment on the MKC is certainly one of the better variations on the theme to date. The Dart-like rear lights dominate the wrap-around tailgate, and the overall shape looks taut and upscale. The same can be said of the dynamically-designed interior, taking the concept revealed in Detroit earlier this year to production fairly seamlessly.
Power will come from a choice of EcoBoost four-cylinder engines with turbocharging and direct injection: a 2.0-liter with 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, or a slightly punchier new 2.3-liter with 275 hp and 300 lb-ft. Lincoln didn't disclose what transmission they'll be mated to, but did note that the MKC carries the brand's "signature" push-button gear shifter. It comes standard in front drive, but buyers who upgrade to all-wheel drive (or tick the right box) will also benefit from a new adaptive suspension Lincoln calls Continuously Controlled Damping. Other features include an approach-detection system that lights the car up and projects a Lincoln "welcome mat" on the pavement when you get close to the car, and a "bread-crumbing" feature that lets you track where your vehicle has been.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]

    Mon, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.

Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models

    Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
