Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion

Thu, 30 Oct 2014

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.

Ford recalling select Taurus, Explorer and Lincoln MKS models over fuel tanks

Sun, 31 Mar 2013

Ford is recalling certain 2012 Taurus, 2013 Explorer and 2012 Lincoln MKS models over fuel tank concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles built between July 19, 2011 and March 15, 2012 may have been built with fuel tanks that have a "marginally sealed seam" on the side. Those seams may not provide the strength necessary to protect the tank from rupture during a collision. They may also leak. The recall covers a total of 3,037 vehicles. NHTSA says that leaked fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could easily cause a fire.
Dealers will inspect the tanks and replace them as need be free of charge. Owners can expect to be notified once the campaign begins on or around April 22, 2013. You can read the full NHTSA recall notice below for more information.

2015 Lincoln MKC priced from $33,995* [w/poll]

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

Looking to build on the momentum it struggled to establish with the MKZ, Lincoln recently unveiled the production version of its all-new MKC last month at the LA Auto Show. With a proven platform shared with the Ford Escape and striking design, the 2015 Lincoln MKC goes on sale next summer ready to take on the ever-expanding world of luxury compact crossovers. Breaking into this new segment, Lincoln has priced the MKC aggressively as one of the least-expensive offerings in its class, starting at $33,995 (*including destination charges).
At that price, the 2015 MKC costs a little bit more than a fully loaded 2014 Ford Escape Titanium and is just slightly less costly than the Acura RDX and Volvo XC60. More importantly, it's thousands less than Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK-Class. The MKC will be offered in three trim levels for now - there is still no more information about Lincoln's new Black Label products - ranging from the base Premiere up to the range-topping Reserve.
The Premiere will come standard with features like active grille shutters, push-button start, remote start, dual-zone climate control and heated front seats, while the midgrade Select starts at $37,225 and adds upgraded 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting, daytime running lights and a steering wheel featuring Wollsdorf leather. The top-shelf Reserve trim level starts at $40,930 and brings even more luxury features including the panoramic roof, navigation, cooled front seats and wifi access.

DESCRIPTION
Developed from 1939 through 1948, the first generation Lincoln Continental was interrupted in production by World War II, where no automobiles were produced by any American auto makers between the years of 1942-1945. With its return to production in 1946, the Continental was revised with subtle change to both the style, but also to the vulnerable V12 engine. The former 292ci V12 engine received several improvements that included high capacity oil pumps, cast iron heads, and stronger internals all to improve cooling capacity and longevity of the engine overall and provide extra horsepower. These H-Series Continentals produced from 1946-1948 are considered the most collectible of the 1st generation for this reason. The entire selection of Lincoln-Zephyr V12 powered Continentals are recognized by the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) as a Full Classic, making them one the last, and youngest, to ever be considered by the club.

We are excited to offer this 1947 Lincoln Continental Convertible finished in most desired Black over original Red Leather interior with a brand new Tan Stayfast canvass convertible and matching boot cover! Powered by its original 292ci V12 Lincoln-Zephyr power plant producing an estimated 130 horsepower and 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive, this wonderful example runs as smooth as it looks! Features include AM radio with fender antenna, fog lamps, cowl vent, dual outside rearview mirrors, 15"i? 1/2 steel wheels fitted with Remington Cushion Aire Poly-4 wide whitewall tires, new rear fender rock guards, continental spare tire, rear fender skirts, locking glove box, dash clock, hydraulic power top and windows, heater/defrost, front & rear bumper guards, carpeted trunk, and more!

This beautiful example was located in Pennsylvania were it has been garage kept & maintained since a basic cosmetic restoration in approximately 2009. It recently received a complete fuel system cleaning with rebuilt fuel pump & Holley 94 carburetor, all new convertible soft top and boot cover, all new fluids; fresh clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing; brake master cylinder, and rebuilt overdrive components! It now starts, runs, and drives with ease! The exterior paint was fully refinished several years ago & beautifully polished by our staff, and the engine bay has been detailed! Whether the top is up or down, it shows extremely well from all angles! The chassis and undercarriage are in solid condition and present very well, although it remains original. The chrome also presents as original and appears in good to very good condition overall. The mileage showing on the odometer reads 49,771 miles which the St. Louis Car Museum believes to be actual based on the overall condition, but we do not have enough documentation to support an original mileage claim. We invite prospective buyers to come and view this auto in person or to call with additional questions. This represents a great opportunity to own a first generation Continental and one of the last V12 powered cars produced by any American auto manufacturer! Thanks for looking!
