Sand Launch Control minimizes wheel spin when moving from a standstill. Once the vehicle reaches an appropriate
speed, slip thresholds are increased to maintain progress.

Gradient Release Control (GRC) during Hill Descent Control (HDC) operation is designed to apply varied brake and
accelerator pressure to help achieve acceleration gradually and more smoothly.

Options:

Valloire White Pearl - $14,500 color option only available to Autobiography

Blind Spot Monitoring System - ability to warn of vehicles that the driver may not see.
A bright amber warning icon is illuminated in the appropriate door mirror when a hazard is detected.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) - uses radar to scan the road ahead, providing early identification of vehicles
moving into your path. This advanced system includes progressive deceleration, and it resets accurately. It is also
adept at identifying smaller vehicles on the road, such as motorcycles riding alongside large trucks.

Forward Alert and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) - Forward Alert is designed to give audible and visual alerts when
approaching a vehicle rapidly and primes the breaking system. Should an impact become inevitable, the system
triggers EBA, ‘priming’ the vehicle braking system.

Everything in the luxury package

Heated/Ventilated driver and passenger seats

Heated steering wheel

4 Zone Climate control

Solar attenuating glass - windshield and driver/passenger front windows filter out heat/radiation (does greatly
improve cabin temperatures on hot days)

Power Reclining Rear Seats (also heated and ventilated) - still have the ability to fold down

Rear Screen Entertainment System - Includes a touch-screen remote control and wireless headphones (Never used,
still in OEM wrapper)

9-speaker 1,200-Watt harman/kardon® LOGIC7® surround-sound system

Adaptive Dynamics - Adaptive Dynamics works by predicting vehicle response to driver input, monitoring contact with
the road surface up to 500 times a second. This allows the system to help mitigate any excessive movement, as
opposed to a conventional system that reacts after the vehicle has already moved. From extremely rough surfaces to
the smoothest highway, Adaptive Dynamics delivers significant off-road and on-road benefits.

High Beam Assist for the headlamps detects oncoming or followed vehicles, and switches between high- and low-beam
illumination

New Rubber floor mats and trunk mat. (Installed in Feb.) I also have the original leather trimmed high-pile mats
(in excellent condition)

Land Rover Roof Transport System

Land Rover Running Boards

3M protective clear-bra on the front bumper, lower front trim, and headlights.

Door handles color-matched to the car (will not fade like the factory plastic finish)

Built-in K40 RL360 radar detector - Forward and Rear radar/laser protection and remote.

I’m sure there’s a lot I left out but those are the major highlights.

Oil change; front rotors/pads (oem) replaced; engine air filter replaced, replaced lower control arms, replaced
left and right rear outer trim, new wiper blades.

New tires installed at 50,540

Ceramic brake pads installed at 50,945

New Battery installed on 02/09/2016

Environmental group accuses BMW, JLR of link to deforestation in Paraguay

Wed, Sep 30 2020

ASUNCION, Paraguay — Environmental group Earthsight said on Wednesday it has linked some of Europe's largest carmakers to the deforestation of the Chaco, a dry forest region of Paraguay home to jaguars and one of the last uncontacted indigenous groups in the world. The group said in a report that livestock companies have illegally logged lands of the Ayoreo Totobiegosode indigenous ethnic group, some of whose members live in voluntary isolation. The livestock skin is used in leather upholstery of luxury vehicles sold by high-end European auto brands including BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover, the group said. UK-based Earthsight said it had made covert visits to tanneries that bragged about supplying the raw material to the luxury car brands. "BMW is using hides sourced from two slaughterhouses processing cows from ranches responsible for illegal [logging] in the Ayoreo Totobiegosode's forests. Jaguar Land Rover didn't dispute sourcing from a Paraguayan tannery that processes hides from another slaughterhouse doing the same," the report said. Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement to Reuters it had found no evidence to verify Earthsight's claims. It said its European suppliers assured sustainability. "We continue  our drive for further transparency and, in this case, the leather supplier in Europe verifies with each raw material supplier that no rural property that directly supplies it is involved in illegal deforestation," the automaker said. BMW did not respond to a request for comment on the Earthsight investigation. Paraguay exports about 50,000 tons of wet-blue leather (tanned, but not dried, dyed or finished) a year, and almost two-thirds of those shipments are bound for Europe, according to the report. Automakers say that leather is a byproduct of the far larger meat industry and high-end cars constitute a comparatively small market niche. But indigenous leaders say deforestation driven by growth in beef and leather exports is encroaching on their territory and destroying their way of life. "As deforestation advances with extensive cattle ranching, they are being imprisoned, they are disappearing," Taguide Picanerai, a spokesman for the Ayoreo community in the Alto Paraguay department, northwest of Asuncion, told Reuters. The region is home to some of the world's highest rates of deforestation, Earthsight said.   Green BMW Jaguar Land Rover

Second 'No Time To Die' trailer drops with lots of crunching metal

Thu, Sep 3 2020

The second trailer for the new James Bond film, "No Time To Die," was posted to social media Thursday morning, getting us thoroughly hyped for the forthcoming installment thanks to some spicy car content and lots of other ridiculous, big-budget action sequences.  Fair warning for the purists: This might contain plot- and character-related information from the trailer itself. Also, it appears that many Land Rover Defenders died in the making of this film, so the footage may not be for the faint of heart; don't say we didn't give you advance notice.  As is typical of Bond films, most of the automotive eye candy is of the European variety. The classic Aston Martin DB5 gadget car (which we saw doing some crazy machine-gun donuts in the first trailer) makes yet another appearance, as does what appears to be fourth-generation Maserati Quattroporte. There's even something which might be a car, but also appears to be both some sort of airplane and submersible. Never change, Bond. We love it.  And then there are the Defenders. We've got Defenders speeding down hillsides, Defenders crashing through forests, Defenders flying over Land Cruisers. Yeah, do you like Land Cruisers? There's a Land Cruiser. It even (spoiler alert!) survives relatively unscathed; the same cannot be said for most of the automotive shenanigans we get to see here.  "No Time To Die" was originally slated to debut back in April, but its original release date roughly coincided with the projected peak of early coronavirus infections. Given how important the Bond film franchise's continued success is to MGM (it's virtually the only thing the studio has had going for it for 30 years) and the producers (who only make Bond films), meager box office returns were not an option. The last film, Spectre, pulled in the worldwide gross of $880 million, including $200 million in the United States and $83.5 million in China. The wait is almost over. "No Time to Die" will hit theaters Nov. 25 in the United States.  Related Video:

Jaguar Land Rover exploring 3D HUD and infotainment projections

Wed, Aug 21 2019

With its most recent technology research, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is exploring the use of 3D projections for a world before and/or after autonomous vehicles come to fruition. In collaboration with the United Kingdom's University of Cambridge, JLR has developed concepts for a 3D head-up display that shows information on the road ahead and a system that projects personalized 3D infotainment for vehicle passengers.  As of right now, hundreds of production vehicles are equipped with two-dimensional head-up displays, some color, others black and white. Using various techniques and different technologies, manufacturers display information in a flat image in front of a driver. Some might find it distracting or unhelpful to have this in the driver's line of sight, and JLR might have found a solution. Rather than wedge the information in between the person and the view ahead, a 3D system that uses augmented reality could display the info onto the road in front of the driver. JLR thinks the system could project navigation directions, safety alerts such as lane departure, hazard detection or other bits typically found in a car's infotainment or instrument cluster. Some might find this to be even more distracting that 2D head-up displays, but to each his or her own. While the 3D head-up display is something that could be used right now, if it were released and passed legal, part two of JLR's 3D technology research is imagined for a life where truly autonomous vehicles are skating across the country. Using head- and eye-tracking technology, the system could lock into the position of numerous people in a vehicle and give each of them a personalized 3D projection "screen." This could be used to track a trip, look up points of interest, or even watch movies. JLR points out this could be used during ride-sharing without bothering others in the vehicle. The work with the Center for Advanced Photonics and Electronics at Cambridge is still in development for now, but it's only a matter of time before 3D tech makes it into cars in some degree.
