You are looking at a 1972 Land Rover Series III (North American version) 16000 of this version were produced, I dont know how many have survived, but this one has excelled. The North American version has the negative earth electrical system which is less problematic, it also has the original factory left hand drive, which means no knock around mechanic conversion which sometimes uses non factory parts which if problems ever occur, repairing can be very difficult and expensive.

This Rover had a complete over haul by the East Coast Rover in 1999. It included a conversion to a lifetime galvanized frame which will never rust. top end rebuild and new front fender wings axle work etc. whatever was needed to be done was done professionally. This overhaul cost about $19000. All receipts have been put into binders and all maintenance is current and done by professionals. The Rover is a daily driver so as things occur, they are repaired. I turn they key and the old girl is ready to go.

Engine. Point system removed, converted to electronic ignition. easy conversion and can easily be reversed in about 10 minutes for authenticity. Ungraded weber carb. Still uses oil bath air cleaning system. Four wheel drive and trans shift smooth and perform as they should. PTO system is ready for a shaft if you should choose to use it.

Body. The body is in very good condition. Front wings are spotless, rear quarter on driver side has an imperfection but is not very noticeable. There is a stainless roof rack ($2400 inc shipping) with all the goodies, high lift jack, jerry cans and a custom fog light kit and bar set. This allows you to take off the roof in the summer and still have all the storage of the rack to bring your stuff along.

Interior. Front seats are fairly new. Defender seats. rear are the fold up type. Landy currently seats 6 but have the middle seat for the front and could seat 7.

I hate top let her go but have to get a pick-up truck for work so its time to let go.

Jaguar Land Rover may build factory in Saudi Arabia

Tue, 11 Dec 2012

The Middle East is one of the fastest-growing markets for Land Rover, so it makes sense that the automaker is looking to set up shop in the region. According to Automotive News, Jaguar Land Rover is in talks with the people of Saudi Arabia to build a factory in the country at an expected initial cost of $1.2 billion. Still in the early stage of talks, the proposed facility could start up by 2017 using locally sourced materials such as steel and aluminum.
Such an arrangement could be beneficial for both entities as Saudi Arabia looks to diversify its oil-reliant economy and Land Rover could get local production capacity of around 50,000 units. The report also says that the agreement talks about the possibility for Jaguar models to be built at the same plant further down the road.
This won't be the first vehicle produced in Saudi Arabia - that honor goes to the KSU Gazal-1 - but it will be the first from a major global automaker.

Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships

Thu, 29 Nov 2012

Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.
