1987 JAGUAR XJ6 BASE SEDAN. I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, AN ELDERLY WOMEN, WHO RESIDED IN BEVERLY HILLS CALIFORNIA WHO PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM HER LOCAL JAGUAR DEALER.BACK IN 1986. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2013 ADDING IT TO MY ALREADY EXISTING CLASSIC JAGUAR COLLECTION. DUE TO ONGOING HEALTH ISSUES I HAVE NOW DECIDED TO SELL MY ENTIRE COLLECTION OF AUTOMOBILES INCLUDING THE ONE I HAVE LISTED HERE. THE CAR HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND SERVICED BY MY LOCAL CLASSIC JAG TECH HERE IN AMELIA ISLAND FLORIDA. THE CAR IS NOT PERFECT BUT IS BOTH MECHANICALLY SOUND, IN VERY GOOD OPERATING CONDITION AND HAVING A VERY SOLID BODY. THE TIRES ARE MICHELIN AND SHOW ABOUT 60% OF TREAD REMAINING. I WOULD SAY THIS CAR IS A 7.5 OUT OF 10 FOR AN ORIGINAL 1987 XJ6. I DO NOT LIKE SURPRISES WHEN I PURCHASE A CAR AND TRY TO BEST REPRESENT ANY CAR I MIGHT BE SELLING. Jaguar envisions future without V8 engines
Wed, 21 Aug 2013With tighter emissions and fuel economy regulations looming, Jaguar may have to do more than make a small, fuel-efficient hatchback to lower its model range's consumption figures - it also might give up its venerable V8 power, Drive reports. But not anytime soon, says Steven de Ploey, Jaguar's product and marketing director, who recognizes that the V8 can be replaced only by something that offers the same, or better, performance. But he has a word of caution: "We are not wedded to V8s."
In the meantime, de Ploey says there are other ways to reduce emissions. One of the first steps Jaguar could take is to shift away from the use of superchargers, which aren't as good as turbochargers at maintaining efficiency and making power. But he adds that supercharging still is "at the heart of Jaguar's performance proposition," and that the company has addressed the current downsizing trend by "replacing our naturally aspirated V8 with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6."
Consider one of de Ploey's comments on the cancelled C-X75 supercar (pictured) for some clue about Jaguar's future: "Some of the stuff we have already exploited to the extreme in the C-X75 is the kind of thinking for us and is an essential test bed to see how we could evolve from today to something that is sustainable in the future."
Jaguar XFR-S is motor-porn on a mountain road
Tue, 04 Dec 2012The 2014 Jaguar XFR-S might have only been good enough to take the runner-up spot in our Editor's Choice top five debuts at the LA Auto Show, but we'd be hard-pressed to find a car with a more exhilarating exhaust note. As proof of this, Jaguar released a video showing the XFR-S tearing up a windy, European mountain road in close to a minute of hardcore driving footage.
The big blue cat has the same great exhaust note of the XKR-S, and the driver puts all of the car's 550 horsepower to work demonstrating the handling - and drifting - abilities of the new XFR-S. If there's any disappointment to be had, it's the fact that you have to jump to the 30-second mark of the video for any of the action to start.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
