1985 Jaguar Xj6 Sedan, Sold With No Reserve on 2040-cars

Year:1985 Mileage:153117
Location:

Saint Helens, Oregon, United States

You're looking at a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 sedan. This particular one is an automatic, white with black leather interior. It's been an Oregon car for most of its life, and it currently has 153k miles on the body and roughly 40k on the 4.2 I6 engine. It's my daily driver, so the mileage is increasing weekly. Selling as my new daily driver (a Rover P6) is finally roadworthy.

Condition-wise... it's in pretty good original condition The paint looks good with no peeling, the seats are in great condition, and the carpets/headliner/wood are perfect. It's in excellent daily driver condition; I wouldn't hesitate to drive it absolutely anywhere. I've completed several 500+ mile trips in it with no problems. However, in order to make it a show car, it does need a couple of things. Firsty, the windshield is cracked (see pic), the A/C doesn't work (compressor comes on, air doesn't blow cold), there's a 1" surface rust spot just below the windshield, and the passenger seat has a 1" rip in it.The paint is also quite stone chipped on the front valance.

In the last few months, it's had both front and rear brakes, new wires/plugs and lifetime K&N air filter, fluids change about 500 miles ago incl cooling system flush / new thermostat, and a new battery (the old one was from 1996!). The previous owner told me the engine had been replaced with a rebuilt unit at roughly 110k miles; the gearbox is the original BW66 unit. It starts, runs, drives, and stops just fine. The transmission shifts smoothly through the gears, the car starts first time every time and has good oil pressure both hot and cold. Uprated KYB shocks and newer bushings all round. Custom straight-through exhaust system. Currently running without the air pump hooked up, though parts for this can be included if required.

Electrically.. the lights, cruise control, heater, power windows, power door locks, power sunroof, and all the fun fuel tank switchover stuff work perfectly. It's currently got a Sony CD/MP3 stereo head unit fitted, along with 5.25" Focal component speakers in the doors and rear deck, and an Infinity Reference amp mounted under the passenger seat.

Usual stuff.. please ask any and all questions before bidding, deposit expected within 48hrs of auction end, full payment within seven days, and car must be picked up from zip code 97051. I'm more than happy to assist with storage and/or shipping if you need it.

Evil Brits star in Jaguar's first-ever Super Bowl commercial

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Chrysler's Imported from Detroit commercial from Super Bowl XLV is one of the most powerful car commercials in recent memory, and Jaguar is taking a similar approach - albeit with a more villainous spin - for its first-ever Super Bowl spot titled Rendezvous. While Chrysler and Eminem focused on hometown cheerleading, Jaguar is using its $8 million (the going rate for a 60-second commercial in this year's game) to play up the Hollywood tradition of typecasting a Brit as the bad guy.
In the spot highlighting the all-new F-Type Coupe, Jaguar looked to director Tom Hooper (the man behind movies like The King's Speech and 2012's Les Misérables), who filmed on location in London with British bad guy actors Mark Strong, Ben Kingsley and Tom Hiddleston. As the commercial implies, Brits make perfect bad guys with their style, sound and power, which are all traits evident in the F-Type.
The commercial will air in the fourth quarter of this Sunday's game, but you can watch it now in the video posted below. Jaguar has also included a press release as well as a second behind-the-scenes video showing how the ad was made.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

Audi, Jag, Kia and Tesla top Strategic Vision 2014 Total Quality Index

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

A couple weeks ago, J.D. Power released its latest Initial Quality Study, which gave high marks to Porsche, Hyundai and General Motors, with the latter earning more individual IQS awards than any other manufacturer. Now, it's Strategic Vision's turn, and it's doling out its praise not to Porsche, but to Tesla, which wasn't even included in the JD Power IQS.
The Model S was named the best vehicle overall in total quality, while Porsche's corporate brother and endurance-racing rival, Audi, was named the best premium brand, alongside Jaguar. Strategic Vision cited the Q5 and the ancient Q7 for individual segment awards, as well as the A5, which was a mere point off the top of its segment. SV also handed out compliments for the Audi's interior work. The win for the German brand is a nice improvement over its IQS score, with which it landed above the industry average, but solidly mid-pack.
Jaguar was without a segment winner, although SV did say that the Indian-owned English brand had a number of vehicles very near the top of their segments. This is the second significant win for Jag in two weeks, after it finished second overall on the JD Power IQS a few weeks ago.
