1987 Jaguar Xj6 Vandas Plas on 2040-cars
Pembroke, Maine, United States
THIS IS A REALLY COOL LITTLE CAR. WE DROVE IT LOCALLY, PURELY FOR MOM AND POP DAYS. THAT WAS IN 2012, DIDN'T USE IT LAST YEAR. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CHARGE. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IT IS EITHER THE NEGATIVE CABLE OR THE POSITIVE THAT RUNS FROM THE BATTERY. THERE IS A FUSE IN THEM AND SOMETIMES THEY BLOW IF THE CAR HAS BEEN JUMPED WITH CABLES. IF NOT THAT, IT IS THE ALTERNATOR. THE HEADLINER SAGS DOWN BY THE REAR WINDOW. THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER WORK PERIODICALLY. THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF RUST AROUND THE HEADLIGHTS AND ALONG THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS BUT I FIXED THAT. FOR SOME REASON I CANT GET IT TO FIRE THIS YEAR BUT THE ENGINE TURNS OVER. NEW BATTERY. I DONT HAVE TIME TO FIDDLE WITH IT, AM CURRENTLY RESTORING TWO ANTIQUE VEHICLES. THERE IS A COUPLE OF SMALL SCRATCHES.THIS IS ALSO A VANDAS PLAS. IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE TIME TO INVEST IN THIS LITTLE CAR I KNOW YOU WILL LOVE IT. HERE IN MY STATE IT CAN BE REGISTERED AS AN ANTIQUE. I AM THE 3RD OWNER OF THIS CAR. THE LAST ONE BOUGHT IT AT AN AUCTION AFTER THE ORIGINAL OWNER TRADED IT. THE SECOND OWNER DIDN'T USE IT, JUST PUT IT UP FOR SALE. ACTUALLY I GOT IT HERE ON EBAY. THE BUYER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIPPING AND I WILL REQUIRE THE WINNING BID TO MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS WITHIN 48 HOURS. THANK YOU. |

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Jaguar demanding customer data from reluctant dealers
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
Nearly every major business is collecting consumer data these days, and keeping that data secure has come to the forefront of many customer's minds. Jaguar Land Rover North America's decision to begin requesting more customer info from its dealer network appears unfortunately timed, however. If it had come a few years ago, it might have been ignored, but in today's climate of heightened awareness, a few dealers are pushing back. To put the showrooms in an even tougher position, JLR NA is threatening to deny quarterly incentives if they do not turn over the customer data, according to Automotive News.
JLR NA instated the nationwide plan, which it calls Single View CRM, on February 7, but according to Stuart Schorr, Jaguar Land Rover North America Vice President of Communications, the automaker has been negotiating with its dealers to institute the new program for over a year. Schorr tells Autoblog that no financial information is being shared, noting that such data is limited to customer details, including things like what vehicles they own and whether they have any pending service. The initiative is meant to "improve customers' and owners' engagement with the brand," he said. Also, the company is not accessing dealer data itself; instead showrooms are asked to enter the info into JLR's database.
Jaguar XE hits the 'Ring wearing swirly camo
Wed, 21 May 2014Jaguar is happy to show off its new XE sedan on its social media sites, but when testing at the Nürburgring, it's a very different story. These spy shots show the new model in camouflage to make it much harder to discern, but there are still some intriguing details to pick out.
These photos give us a really good look at the XE's quirky rear end. The sedan has a super short trunk that almost fools you into thinking its a notchback, but the top edge of the trunk is clearly visible. It's a somewhat odd-looking design with the rear glass running underneath the roof's overhang to create an integrated spoiler. Despite the camo, the front end is the same as ever with a blunt edge and sharp headlights. Jag certainly isn't afraid to try something a little different compared to the XE's competitors, notably the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.
Some technical details about the XE are already established. This 3 Series-fighter is slated to go on sale in foreign markets in 2015 and in the US in 2016. We know that it ride's on Jag's new aluminum platform that also underpins the C-X17 crossover concept, and power comes from a pair of 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines, available in petrol- or diesel-fueled configurations.
