1979 FORD F-250 XLT
Less than 82,000 original miles!
Great running 460 V8 w/ 4 barrel!
Drive home!
Here it is folks--the tough old pickup you've been looking for! This survivor Ford is in way above average condition. It's been on a farm for the last few years, and throughout its life it was mostly a summer vehicle. I believe it's only had 2 or 3 owners.
The Ford starts and runs great. It has a new fuel pump, new brake line, and 1 new tire. In the last year it received new exhaust and new brakes all around. It comes with a ladder rack that is easily removed.
About the worst of the rust is the cab corners and a little above the rear wheel wells. I believe the other rust spots are generally surface rust. The bed has a few very small rust holes, but nothing major. See the photos. The lower passenger side of the box is dented, as you can see in the photos. These dents would probably pop out fairly easily and the sheet metal is still strong in this spot. This truck received Ziebart rust proofing when new, and I think that is why it has survived as well as it has.
I believe all of the electrical except for the horn works. The AM/FM cassette radio works well! There currently is no trailer lights hook-up, but there is a 2" trailer hitch ball on the heavy duty ag bumper. This truck would be the ideal pulling vehicle!
This is a NO RESERVE auction. Please only bid if you have the money now and are ready to buy. Bidders with an eBay feedback rating of below 5 please contact me through the eBay Message System before bidding so that I can verify your good business intentions. Failure to do so may cause your bid to be cancelled. Please remember that you are bidding to own this truck; you are not bidding to come take a look at it to decide if you'd like to own a 34 year old pickup. This truck is not new, it is not perfect. But for what it is, I believe it is quite solid.
Enjoy the auction! People in the area are more than welcome to contact me for a test drive. The truck does come with a spare tire and rim. The front driver's side tire is new and the other 3 are older, but still seem decent enough (they're not all cracked up and weather checked). I wouldn't worry about driving it home.
This would be a great truck to restore, or just drive as is. Happy Motoring!
Enjoy the auction!

Couple items I forgot to note: The pickup is running off the front tank only. The switch was faulty that switches it from front to rear gas tank, so I just ran it off the front tank only. Gas guage works great. Also, the power steering pump leaks a bit. This is pretty common with this vintage truck from my experience. I just top off the power steering fluid once a month and it seems to be fine. Enjoy the auction!

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86
Wed, 26 Jun 2013On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.
Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models
Fri, 30 Aug 2013The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
Why the Detroit Three should merge their engine operations
Tue, Dec 22 2015GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne would love to see his company merge with General Motors. But GM's board of directors essentially told him to go pound sand. So now what? The boardroom battle started when Mr. Marchionne published a study called Confessions of a Capital Junkie. In it, Sergio detailed the amount of capital the auto industry wastes every year with duplicate investments. And he documented how other industries provide superior returns. He's right, of course. Other industries earn much better returns on their invested capital. And there's a danger that one day the investors will turn their backs on the auto industry and look to other business sectors where they can make more money. But even with powerful arguments Marchionne couldn't convince GM to take over FCA. And while that fight may now be over, GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. No doubt this suggestion will send purists into convulsions, but so be it. The Detroit Three should seriously consider merging their powertrain operations, even though that's a sacrilege in an industry that still considers the engine the "heart" of the car. These automakers have built up considerable brand equity in some of their engines. But the vast majority of American car buyers could not tell you what kind of engine they have under the hood. More importantly, most car buyers really don't care what kind of engine or transmission they have as long as it's reliable, durable, and efficient. Combining that production would give the Detroit Three the kind of scale that no one else could match. There are exceptions, of course. Hardcore enthusiasts care deeply about the powertrains in their cars. So do most diesel, plug-in, and hybrid owners. But all of them account for maybe 15 percent of the car-buying public. So that means about 85 percent of car buyers don't care where their engine and transmission came from, just as they don't know or care who supplied the steel, who made the headlamps, or who delivered the seats on a just-in-time basis. It's immaterial to them. And that presents the automakers with an opportunity to achieve a staggering level of manufacturing scale. In the NAFTA market alone, GM, Ford, and FCA will build nearly nine million engines and nine million transmissions this year.
