For sale is my gorgeous 2010 Ford Expedition Limited 4X4. Black on black, it is absolutely stunning with it's 20" Chrome clad wheels and brand new (less than 4k miles) Continental Eco tires. The Limited package means this truck has everything you want; fog lights, multiple power outlets, power everything including 3rd row collapsible seats, tail-gate, windows, sunroof, rear windows, automatic power folding side-steps and side-view mirrors, paint matched grill and bumpers, reverse camera, navigation, Microsoft Sync and Bluetooth technology. The truck also has the rear DVD Entertainment system with headphones and rare second row captains' chairs!! It took me a while to find one with the second row captains' chairs which was an option even for the Limited model. They make the third row accessible and usable. Unfortunately, not many have the second row captains' chairs because they were an expensive upgrade making this model more valuable than most.

This model is 4 wheel drive and has the towing package. The truck is rated to haul up to 9,000lbs!! That's ridiculous for an SUV but if you need to haul anything, no problem.

Of course the navigation system is great, the Bluetooth and Sync systems are outstanding but on hot days, nothing is better than the air conditioned/cooled seats....ahhhh  Conversely on cold days, the heated seats are great too.

There's also a few things I took the liberty of adding to this already well-equipped Expedition:
  1. Authentic Xenon headlights / high beams complete with ballasts, professionally installed (also have the original OEM Ford lights)
  2. Authentic Husky rear cargo liner; custom fit behind the second row of seats of the 2010 Ford Expedition
  3. Authentic Ford all-weather floor mats; durable rubber (also have the soft original carpet mats)
  4. Yellow-wrapped fog lights for the most appropriate light zone for a fog light application
Clean Carfax, no dents, no dings, no scratches. The truck is lightly used though, so I won't say it's absolutely flawless. There may be one or two minor nicks on the front end or tail-gate from normal driving but nothing visible from a few feet away nor anything I can think of right now.

So I purchased this beautiful truck less than a year ago from a Ford dealer. The truck is covered under the Ford Factory Warranty (bumper-to-bumper) for 5 years or 50,000 miles, so it's still under the factory warranty. However, just for the extra peace of mind, not that I really thought I needed it and accurately predicted I wouldn't, I went ahead and purchased the additional Ford ESP BASECARE Extended Service Plan. The Ford ESP covers all 84 major components (pretty much everything) for an additional 3 years / 36,000 miles!!!  The FORD ESP is fully transferable; stays with the vehicle, not the owner. Rest assured, this truck is in excellent condition. The winner bidder should take great comfort in knowing this truck has been meticulously maintained and is fully covered should it need anything at all for another 5 years!

I'm know there's many options this truck has which I've neglected to list but just check any options page for a 2010 Expedition Limited and you'll easily see it's full lot.

If it's not clear by now that this truck is great, read a few reviews and you should be quickly satisfied. We're selling the SUV because I need a pick-up truck, want a sports car and unfortunately can't afford all three and my girlfriend right now. I've decided she'll stay so the Expo has to go, no other reason.

The truck is located in Hunt Valley, MD and is driven daily. I have the title in hand but there is a lien held by First Niagara Bank. So payment will be made to the Bank, then I'll hand over the keys; pretty simple.

Other than that, if you have any questions, feel free to call.

Bacon-wrapped Ford Fiesta hams it up for International Bacon Day

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

This is a bacon-wrapped Ford Fiesta. It is a real thing, that a real, multi-billion-dollar company designed. And it isn't even April Fools' Day. Designed for International Bacon Day, which is also apparently a thing, the 2014 Fiesta is finished in Green Envy paint - we're told black paint, like the color of a skillet, made the car look camouflaged - and features 10 gigantic decals depicting strips of tender, cured bacon.
The design, which was approved by the CEO of Benton's Country Hams, Allan Benton, show off the depth of Ford's Custom Graphics program. Unbelievably, Ford will actually start offering bacon decals to everyday customers, including (and we can't believe we're writing this) dual bacon racing stripes which will no doubt have Carroll Shelby spinning and/or salivating in his grave, and a "side of bacon," which wraps a couple of strips over the rear wheels.
Benton, who Ford claims is the King of Bacon, had this to say: "This car just makes so much sense." The Fiesta's marketing manager, Liz Elser added, "It's just awesome to drive down the road in a piece of bacon."

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Car Stories: Owning the SHO station wagon that could've been

Fri, Oct 30 2015

A little over a year ago, I bought what could be the most interesting car I will ever own. It was a 1987 Mercury Sable LS station wagon. Don't worry – there's much more to this story. I've always had a soft spot for wagons, and I still remember just how revolutionary the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were back in the mid-1980s. As a teenager, I fell especially hard for the 220-horsepower 1989 Ford Taurus SHO – so much so that I'd go on to own a dozen over the next 20 years. And like many other quirky enthusiasts, I always wondered what a SHO station wagon would be like. That changed last year when I bought the aforementioned Sable LS wagon, festooned with the high-revving DOHC 3.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission from a 1989 Taurus SHO. In addition, the wagon had SHO front seats, a SHO center console, and the 140-mph instrument cluster with mileage that matched the engine. When I bought it, that number was just under 60,000 – barely broken in for the overachieving Yamaha-sourced mill. The engine and transmission weren't the only upgrades. It wore dual-piston PBR brakes with the choice Eibach/Tokico suspension combo in front. The rear featured SHO disc brakes with MOOG cargo coils and Tokico shocks, resulting in a wagon that handled ridiculously well while still retaining a decent level of comfort and five-door functionality. I could attack the local switchbacks while rowing gears to a 7,000-rpm soundtrack just as easily as loading up on lumber at the hardware store. Over time I added a front tower brace to stiffen things a bit as well as a bigger, 73-mm mass airflow sensor for better breathing, and I sourced some inexpensive 2004 Taurus 16-inch five-spoke wheels, refinished in gunmetal to match the two-tone white/gunmetal finish on the car. That, along with some minor paint and body work, had me winning trophies at every car show in town. And yet, what I loved most about the car wasn't its looks or performance, but rather its history. And here's where things also get a little philosophical, because I absolutely, positively love old used cars. Don't get me wrong – new cars are great. Designers can sculpt a timeless automotive shape, and engineers can construct systems and subsystems to create an exquisite chassis with superb handling and plenty of horsepower. But it's the age and mileage that turn machines into something more than the sum of their parts.
