1971 Ford Torino 500 model, uniquely equipped. Its powered by an M code 351 4 barrel Cleveland engine backed by its original C6 transmission. The 9" rear end houses its original 3.00 geared traction lock differential. The engine runs strong and the trans shifts like it should. It has a nice cam in and a 3000 stall convertoer from Broader Performance. REAL NICE full length dual exhaust with Flowmaster 44's. Looking at the Marti report, it shows the car was not dealer ordered for stock but specifically with these options by a customer. Along with the drivetrain, it was equipped with power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, tinted glass, visibility group (under hood, trunk, glove box and map lamps), sport mirrors, styled steel wheels and the in dash tachometer. The interior is on good shape but could use a dash pad or a dash cap. door panels, upholstery, headliner all in nice shape. This is a very solid car as it spent most of its life North Carolina. All lamps work, turn signals, brake lights, headlights, horn, wipers, windshield washer, heater fan, dash lights, tachometer, door locks, parking brake. Brake pads are at about 50% and rotors are in good shape. Car starts right and and runs/drives/stops good. No smoke, knocks or ticks. The car is not a rust bucket, it has nice floors, doors, cowl and trunk. The front shock towers have NOT been torched for greasing the upper control arms.

New window crank knobs and door lock knobs, dome lamp lens, Duralast Gold battery, reproduction battery cables, battery hold down and bolts, remanufactured correct carburetor, wiper refills in original frames, pre-bent fuel line from fuel pump to carburetor, Monroe front shocks, Cooper Cobra tires and Alpine 6x9 rear speakers. It has an older JVC cassette deck that DOES work. I do have the original shoulder belts and they go with the car along with the air conditioning cpompressor. The compressor is not frozen so it should be good. I have receipts and paperwork going back to the mid 80's and covering 4 different owners. The vehicle also retains its original owners manual, operators manual, warranty card, starting instructions sleeve and warrranty facts guide. It has all 5 of the styled steel wheels.

Besides all of this, At the end of August/beginning of September, the engine was pulled for installation of the stall converter and an engine bay clean and detail.

Engine - cleaned, new oil pan/timing cover/water pump/valve cover/ intake gaskets/ carburetor and a repaint. Fresh distributor (has a Pertronix conversion) and carter fuel pump. New engine harness and all new/fresh decals and markings. New valve springs and belts.

Engine bay - Degreased/ Powerwashed wiped down with laquer thinner and painted with Rustoleum 7777. Everything is either been cleaned and detailed or is new. All new replated hardware from Ron Savavge. Ron Savage concours restored wiper motor. Reproduction battery cables, radiator and heater hoses, hose clamps, decals, windhsield washer pump, master cylinder cover and master cylinder mounting nuts. Alternator cleaned and painted, reproduction fan and pulley. All I have pictures from engine removal, cleaning, painting right up to the finished product.

Grill Assembly - Complete grill assembly cleaned, taped off and painted. Headlight stands/buckets disassembled, cleaned and painted.

Heater core removed, repaired (broke soldered joint for tube), flushed and pressure tested. Heater control repaired and all underhood vacuum lines for heater/AC system repaired/replaced and properly run. Heater box now functions as it should with vent/heat/de-fog and de-ice functions working properly. Blower motor works great.

Proper, New reproduction center caps for the wheels.

I'm sure there's a lot of things I'm forgetting.

Ran 14.70 at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race. DROVE it 160 miles (one way) to the track and back home. Currently has a 4.11 locker in it but I have the original 3.00 traction loc.

2016 Ford F-150 gets Sync 3, appearance packs

Wed, Jun 24 2015

After the groundbreaking move to aluminum for the bodywork of the 2015 Ford F-150, it's easy to understand Ford keeping the updates light for the 2016 model. However, while there are no drastic changes for the upcoming model year, customers will benefit from a few tiny tweaks. Among the biggest improvement to the truck's usability is the move to the Blue Oval's latest Sync 3 infotainment system to replace Sync with MyFord Touch. Now running on Blackberry's QNX, the software claims to be faster and more intuitive. It also means a redesigned screen layout. As a pickup, the F-150 is meant to work, and Ford's trying to make that a little easier with the newly available Pro Trailer Backup Assist. When activated, drivers turn a knob in the direction they want the trailer to go. From there, the truck makes the necessary steering changes and limits the speed. Finally, for buyers wanting some extra style, Ford is bringing some updates to the exterior. Shadow Black and Lithium Gray are new colors that replace Tuxedo Black and Guard Metallic, respectively. There are also now brawny looking Special Edition Appearance Packages for the XLT and Lariat (pictured above) that include 20-inch anodized aluminum wheels, black running boards, smoked headlights, and side graphics. Both have a dark grille but with red accents on the Lariat and black mesh on the XLT. Inside, the seats feature Alcantara inserts with red bolsters, and crimson accent stitching is throughout the cabin. Finally, there is also the previously announced compressed natural gas prep pack. Feel free to read all about the new 2016 F-150 in the press release below. 2016 F-150 CONTINUES TO INNOVATE WITH AVAILABLE PRO TRAILER BACKUP ASSIST, ALTERNATIVE FUEL CAPABILITY AND SYNC 3 Pro Trailer Backup Assist helps make backing up a trailer as easy as turning a knob New Special Edition Appearance Packages available on XLT and Lariat with unique wheels, graphics and finishes Compressed Natural Gas/Propane gaseous fuel prep package available for 5.0-liter V8-equipped F-150s, helping reduce operating costs and tailpipe CO2 emissions The 2016 Ford F-150, part of Ford F-Series, America's best-selling truck for 38 years, continues to innovate with the addition of breakthrough towing technology, new Special Edition Appearance Packages, SYNC 3 and alternative fuel capability. All-new Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes it easier for drivers of all skill levels to back a trailer up to launch a boat or park in a driveway.

Ford shares falling on news of lower-than-expected profits next year

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Ford has released projections for its 2013 profits, along with predictions of its 2014 earnings, and the news has forced the company's stock to stumble, falling over seven percent as of this writing. The Blue Oval is expecting earnings of $8.34 billion for 2013, although the bulk of that is coming largely from its North American operations, as troubles abroad continue to take a toll.
Calling 2013 an "outstanding" year, Ford expects its revenue to be up about 10 percent, thanks to gains in market share everywhere but Europe. But it's 2014 predictions that are causing stock prices to fall, as the Dearborn-based manufacturer expects pre-tax profits to fall to $7 to $8 billion, because of troubles in both Europe and South America, according to a report from Reuters. This is despite an expansion plan that will see it open an additional factory in the southern hemisphere, as well as two plants in China, all in a bid to launch 23 new or refreshed products next year.
The issues in South America aren't so much related to a fall in sales - Ford expects improved profits in Brazil and Argentina - but because of currency devaluations in Venezuela that are projected to cost it around $350 million. While that would still allow it to break even with 2013, Ford cites continued economic risks that could push losses even higher.

Weekly Recap: Hackers demonstrate auto industry's vulnerability

Sat, Jul 25 2015

There's always been a certain risk associated with driving, and this week cyber security came into focus as the latest danger zone when researchers demonstrated how easily they could hack into a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from across the country. The incident raised concerns over the vulnerability of today's cars, many of which double as smartphones and hot spots. During the now-infamous experiment, Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller infiltrated the Jeep's cellular connection and were able to control the infotainment system, brakes, and other functions. The hackers told the Jeep's maker, FCA US, of their findings last year, the company devised a software fix. Though Valesek and Miller hacked a Cherokee (like the one shown above), several FCA products, including recent versions of the Ram, Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Viper were also affected, illustrating potentially wide exposure that could reverberate across the sector. "For the auto industry, this is a very important event and shows that cyber-security protection is needed even sooner than previously planned," Egil Juliussen, senior analyst and research director for IHS Automotive, wrote in a research note. "Five years ago, the auto industry did not consider cyber security as a near-term problem. This view has changed." Hours after the Cherokee hacking incident was publicized on Tuesday, Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) introduced legislation to direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Trade Commission to establish national standards for automotive cyber security. The bill also would require vehicles to have a cyber-rating system to alert consumers how well their cars' privacy and security are defended. "Drivers shouldn't have to choose between being connected and being protected," Markey said in a statement. "We need clear rules of the road that protect cars from hackers and American families from data trackers." Though FCA and its Jeep Cherokee were in the spotlight this time, they were just the latest to showcase how automotive technology has advanced faster than safety and regulatory measures. IHS forecasts 82.5 million cars will be connected to the internet by 2022, which is more than three times today's level. "Cyber-security will become a major challenge for the auto industry and solutions are long overdue," Juliussen said.
