1990 Ford F 350 Cab and Chassis

The known issues or repairs needed: Truck will need inspected to obtain a Reconstructed Title to be legally drivable...don't stop reading!

We purchased the truck because we needed a small aerial lift. A small car hit the left rear of the vehicle in a work zone, damaged the left rear of the truck body and the impact caused concern for the safety of future use of the aerial lift because the lift was in use at the time of the accident. To repair the Utility body the lift would have to be removed before the utillity body could be removed and replaced thus creating a very high cost for repair and the insurance company paid us the value of the truck, considered the vehicle totaled, and a salvage title was issued. The truck drives fine and I drove it about 150 miles from the work zone back to our work center with no issues. My intention was to get a flat bed or dump bed installed but we no longer have a use for either of these types of trucks. Don't want to let it go but we've accumulated too many vehicles and several must go.

The pictures of the truck parked on the highway with the utility body and aerial lift were taken at the scene of the accident and represent the truck as it was when purchased and still operational in our fleet.

Because of these know issues the vehicle is being sold as is, not returnable, and for parts or repair!

The good notable comments: The motor and drive train are good. The 7.3 Diesel was a very reliable and effecient engine that will last a very long time if taken care of.

The truck runs well, is drivable, and it is parked in a lot 25 miles south of Pittsburgh PA where it can be test driven.

The body is good for the age of the vehicle.

The pictures of the truck shown as a cab and chassis only represent the truck in it's current condition and what the highest bidder will be purchasing. The lift unit and the utility body have been removed and are not inculded.

I will answer any questions to the best of my ability.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

Ford idling Michigan Assembly Plant to trim Focus, C-Max supply

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

Ford will be putting the brakes on production at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI, idling production during the weeks of October 28 and December 16. Ford is citing the first drop in US sales in 27 months, a 4.2-percent dip in September, as the impetus for trimming their supplies, according to Automotive News.
Ford's deft management of its supplies has been part of its success over the years, and seeing supplies of Focus and C-Max, the two vehicles built at MAP, rise from 58 and 108 days, respectively, to 71 and 122 days over the span of a month was apparently all that was need to justify the trimming. As AN points out, the rule of thumb for many automakers is to maintain a 60-day supply of vehicles.
"Ford has been focused on keeping their pricing in check. Their operating margin is in double digits. Nobody else is there and they're obviously very proud of that," Alan Baum, an auto analyst with Baum & Associates told AN. Keeping the supply chain operating smoothly and not increasing supplies too much is crucial to that healthy profit margin. After all, a large supply lowers prices ,which, in turn, cuts profit. So while this news might not be great for employees at MAP, who now have an extra two weeks of vacation time, it's far from a sign of problems in Dearborn. Quite the opposite, actually.
