The truck was originally a Texas truck so it has been through the last few winters. We used the truck as a third vehicle and to haul our 28 ft travel trailer. It was about 10,000 lbs and it hauled with ease. I drove it on the worst snow days as it is great in the snow, especially with a little weight in the bed. We have sold our camper and have a much smaller one now so we are downsizing trucks as well.
Recent things done:
New Jasper Transmission and torque convertor (beefed up for towing) at about 270,000
New alternator, shocks, ball joints upper and lower, sway bar end links, steering linkage, brake rotors and pads in the last year
New starter 2 years ago
One new fuel injector all others cleaned 4 years ago
Diablo 3 position computer performance chip (economy, normal, power)
The good:
The truck runs and drives great. It is pretty clean and has not been smoked in the last 4 years. Very little surface rust. Ac and heater work well. It can tow large heavy items and you barely know anything is behind you. The Cab has plenty of room for 6 people. Lots of leg room in the back seats.
The bad:
Passenger rear power lock sticks. A tree branch in my yard fell on the truck. It has various small dents on both bed rails, cab roof, passenger front fender. Tailgate and windshield was replaced. Very minimal surface rust.
The truck is 11 years old and has a few stains, burns and dings but otherwise is a beast of a workhorse. These diesel trucks are known to last. It has been well kept and will last you many more years.

eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype
Wed, 08 May 2013Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.
Facelifted Ford Focus caught testing in the cold
Wed, 18 Dec 2013It's that time in the life of the Ford Focus to get a little work done - a nip-tuck here, some Botox there. Yes, Ford is testing a facelifted version of its global C-segment entry, which first hit markets in Europe and North America in May 2011.
Like the touchup on the Fiesta, expect Ford's gaping grille to make its first appearance on the Focus. Our spy photographers point out that this is likely to be a more comprehensive makeover than previous spy shots suggested, based on the additional camouflage seen here on the front and rear ends of this five-door model. New head and taillights are also likely in order, as are changes to the front and rear fascia.
The interior was also snapped and features a cleaner design with a larger central display. Other than that, it looks like some buttons have been changed, making us think most of the Focus' updates are limited to the exterior.
Ford Fiesta ST gets worked out on the track
Sun, 10 Mar 2013We're big fans of the turbocharged Ford Focus ST, and we're plenty excited that the Blue Oval will be offering a similar treatment on the smaller Fiesta here in the United States, too. We first saw the production-ready Fiesta ST five-door at the Los Angeles Auto Show last fall, and Ford has now released this video of a Euro-spec three-door ST being flung around the track.
But not just any track - the challenging Track 7 of Ford's Lommel Proving Grounds in Belgium. The course features 20 turns and plenty of elevation changes along its 2.7-mile loop, and David Put, a vehicle dynamic specialist at Ford, shows just how good the pint-sized Fiesta ST is at handling the lot, even getting the smallest ST up on three wheels every now and then.
It sure does look like a lot of fun, and makes us really eager for our chance to try this ourselves. Scroll down to see the hot little Ford getting busy.
