Up for sale is a very rare and extremely straight 1963 Chrysler Crown Imperial. I got this car on a trade and am not into Mopar products but if I was, it would be a fantastic candidate for restoration. This is a true Northern California car that has been in storage for many years. It is in very nice shape with no evidence of any type of collision and no rust anywhere. The floorboards, trunk and everywhere else is solid and ready to restore. The dash is in decent shape as are the door panels. The headliner and seats are missing but the headliner bows are here and all other chrome trim is in the trunk. The radiator has been removed as with the water pump and fan. The car turns over just fine and the compression is all within 170 to 178. The trans is complete but unknown as to condition. The car is a very attractive and valuable collector when complete. This car comes with a bill of sale only as the title is no where to be found. There are no fees against the car as it has not been registered for many years and is out of the Calif. system. Chrysler launches new Ram ads and gears up for Super Bowl XLV [w/videos]
Tue, 09 Oct 2012Perhaps no car company has made bigger splashes in the last two years at the Super Bowl than Chrysler, and the automaker's marketing chief, Olivier Francois, said today that he plans to be all over the big game again in February.
Last year, the company made an ad featuring Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood. The spot achieved viral status quickly when pundits charged that Eastwood's lines were politically motivated; meant to appeal to progressive voters/viewers favoring a second term for President Obama. In 2011, agency Wieden & Kennedy burst into the game with a now famous commercial featuring Eminem. Both ads have supported Chrysler's "Imported from Detroit" marketing platform.
Francois briefed reporters Monday at the Detroit Opera House while he also debuted a new series of ads for the Ram brand.
Marchionne to take his sweater and go home after 2018
Wed, 08 Oct 2014The end is in sight for Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne, who confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that once FCA's sweeping five-year plan is completed, he'd be stepping down from his post to "undoubtedly" do something else that didn't involve turning around global corporations. That would mean he should finish up after 2018 if all goes according to plan.
"It's as important to walk away from the table as it is to sit down," Marchionne told Bloomberg.
Marchionne has been at Fiat since June of 2004 and is one of the chief architects behind the Italian company's acquisition of Chrysler. Despite his successes, he does sound quite ready to move beyond the auto industry, rhetorically asking his Bloomberg interviewers if there "are other things I like to do apart from this?"
Chrysler patents smarter minivan folding seats
Thu, 02 Jan 2014It's frightening to think of how quickly the mice would have overtaken us if we hadn't stayed one step ahead of them with better mousetraps. We'll never have to worry about that in our relentlessly re-engineered world, though. Case in point: Chrysler has been granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for an improved design of the already wondrous Stow 'n' Go seating found in the automaker's Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.
Introduced in 2005, the Stow 'n' Go was improved in 2008, and based on the drawings of this third-generation improvement, the new design appears to allow stowage of the second row of seats without having to move the front-row seats forward as much. It look like it also involves fewer operations and moving parts, with a portion of the seatback being incorporated into the flat floor when the seats are stowed, as opposed to having a completely separate cover.
It's possible that the innovation may appear on the next-generation minivans expected in 2015, but Chrysler isn't commenting on the patent.
