Up for auction is a very nice low milage (54K) Chevrolet Trailblazer. I purchased this vehicle about a year ago (while my wife was in Florida) from a gentleman in Detroit after a very long search for a low milage "daily driver". As a retiree I don't put on a lot of miles but I wanted a low milage vehicle so I wouldn't have to go looking again anytime soon. My specifications were simple but hard to find. I looked for a reliable late model (2006 or newer), 4x4, V8 and good looking (at my age I've learned no one has to drive an ugly vehicle). This vehicle met nearly all of the criteria but the owner said there was an engine noise. I checked with my buddy who is the service manager at the local GMC dealer and he indicated the vehicle was still under warranty. I bought the vehicle and brought it in to have it checked out. General Motors installed a complete new long block @ about 40k miles (these 5.3 motors are very strong, I can't imagine why anyone would need an SS with a 6.0 in it). New "cats" were installed at the same time.With a brand new motor this vehicle met all of my requirements...i was a happy guy.
My wife returned from Florida and announced that the Chevrolet in the garage had to go. Her father and brothers had owned the local Ford dealership until about three years ago and she felt having a Chevrolet was just bad for family relations. I argued that her dad had ridden in it and her brother had borrowed it and I'd not heard a discouraging word from either of them but she says they're just trying to be nice in a difficult situation. Guess who won that argument? Long story short...I'm selling this "find" and now have to look for a replacement. I didn't buy this baby to be a "show stopper", I already had one of those, I was looking for reliability. The body had a few small dents and I had a "Dent Dr" remove all but two of those. The roof still has a dent and the cowl hood scoop covers the other. The previous owner was a smoker so I've worked hard to get rid of the smoke smell and it's gone, there are a few small ash spots in the driver seat. Other than that this is a great ride. With a new motor and a pretty bullet proof driveline this truck would have lasted me a very long time, now it will last someone else a very long time. A friend of mine had purchased a Trailblazer SS at about the same time I bought this truck and he was going to install aftermarket wheels so I bought his wheels (he's now back with SS wheels) and bought a new set of Perelli Scorpion tires (20"). The scoop I already owned from a previous project and it made this truck a "one of a kind". I "blacked out" the bow ties with black 3M reflective tape in the hopes that it would hide must of the Chevrolet ID but that didn't make my family problem go away. The original 17" wheels are included (4) and three of the tires are usable but will have to be replaced in 10k or so. The trailering ability was high on my must have list and this baby can trailer. I only used it to bring my boat home this fall...a total of 2 miles from the ramp, and I pulled my 4x8 enclosed trailer up to hunting camp last fall, a total of 300 miles +/-. This truck will make someone very happy, no disappointments, look at my feed back. Kelly blue book shows this truck @ $12.8K @74K miles (that would be average miles for this vehicle). That price does not take into account the 20K fewer miles, the new motor @ 40K, the extra wheels/tires or the cowl hood. The truck is TEPH SEAL certified which I'm told is a high end rust proofing. No low ballers please, if I wanted to give it away I'd give it to a relative or at least someone I knew. Please make sure you have your financing in order, if necessary, before you bid. I will coordinate with your transporter but all the cost of shipping is by the buyer. No zero or negative feedback bidders please. |

GM recalls 64k 2011-2013 Volts over carbon monoxide fears, stop sale on Trax and Encore
Thu, Mar 12 2015General Motors is recalling 50,249 Chevrolet Volts from the 2011-2013 model years in the US and an additional 13,937 exported examples because of fears over carbon monoxide buildup. According to a statement, if a Volt is accidentally left on while running on electric power, its internal combustion engine would eventually kick on to charge on the battery. If this happens in an enclosed space, then carbon monoxide can fill the area, leading to a potential exposure to the dangerous gas. According to GM, there have been two injuries reported due to this issue. To fix the problem, there's a software update to limit the time the vehicle can idle. According to Automotive News, GM is also issuing a stop sale on about 2,300 examples of the 2015 Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore. In these compact crossovers, it's possible that the steering column assembly could touch the power steering circuit board and cause damage over time. This could potentially cause the system to stop working. Automotive News indicates that the automaker is still working with the supplier to get the necessary parts to repair this problem. General Motors is recalling 50,249 Chevrolet Volts in the U.S. from the 2011-2013 model years to implement a software update that will limit the amount of time a vehicle can be left idling in the "on" or "run" position. If a driver exits the vehicle and inadvertently leaves the vehicle "on" by failing to react to cues and warning chimes emitted by the vehicle, the vehicle's high-voltage battery will drain after a period of time and the gasoline engine will begin to run. If the gas engine runs for a long period of time within an enclosed space, such as a garage, carbon monoxide could build up. GM is aware of two injuries, both related to carbon monoxide build up. GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
