Beautiful Classic Southern Car with Original Miles - 40,000!

Up for sale is a piece of automotive history.  The corvair offered many firsts for the American auto industry (110in. wheelbase, independent suspension, rear engine, flat 6, factory turbocharging, etc., etc., etc.).  The 1969 was the last year this iconic vehicle was produced.

This car has 40,000 original miles, a 2spd automatic transmission, and is immaculate.  There are two small chips on the drivers side door (see pics) and the AM radio does not work.  Otherwise, everything on this car is in working condition and is a GREAT DRIVER.  The car was repainted once back in the late 1970's ('79ish) and was a Corsa sr. concourse winner (documentation comes with the car).  The car spent most of it's life in Georgia.  I bought it from a gentleman in South Carolina.  It has been garage kept in North Carolina since.  I have enjoyed cruising in it for the past 2yrs or so, but with a rapidly expanding family (we are expecting our 5th child this Thursday) I don't have time or space for my own toys.

This is the 3rd and last time I will be listing this car.  The car has sold the previous two times I've listed it, but the 1st buyer was a no show and the 2nd buyer found another car after I misplaced the title (totally my fault).  There has never been an issue with the car or any issue with my description of the car.  I have a clear title now locked away and am more motivated than ever to do a deal.  I have the reserve set ridiculously low for this car.  Best of luck bidding.

Please call 828-279-8756 with any questions.

I reserve the right to end this auction early as car is for sale locally.  There is no warranty expressed written or implied.

GM natural gas-powered vans recalled due to possible leak

Wed, Sep 24 2014

General Motors is recalling almost 3,200 of its compressed-natural-gas powered utility vans because of possible leaks. GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a notice last week saying that 3,196 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG vans are on recall, though no accidents have been reported due to the possible issue. The recall is specifically for vans for model years ranging from 2011 to 2014. The recall stems from a potential leak from the compressed natural gas high-pressure regulator, and such a leak could cause a fire or explosion. GM will replace the vehicles' high-pressure regulator in order to fix the problem, will do it free of charge and is instructing owners to contact Chevrolet or GMC customer service to arrange for the parts replacement. Utility vehicle makers like General Motors have pushed for fleet sales of CNG-powered vans and trucks for the past few years and have touted them for their cheaper refueling costs relative to standard gasoline, not to mention the fact that natural gas can be readily sourced from throughout North America (thanks, fracking). According to CNGPrices.com, compressed natural gas sells for about $2.22 a gallon, on average, while the AAA is pegging the average price of gas at $3.34 a gallon. NHTSA has posted information on the recall here. Featured Gallery News Source: NHTSA via Reuters Green Chevrolet GM GMC Natural Gas Vehicles CNG gmc savana

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
