You are bidding on an un-molested 1970 Camaro Rally Sport 350 2-owner car.  The present owner has owned the car for 25 years. This car has been housed in a garage for most of its life with only 107,377 total miles on it. The car has been well maintained over its life – all original and still runs great. This is the 1st generation 1970 Rally Sport Camaro with the split bumper. Engine number and body numbers match. Frame is straight with no damage (other than minor dings and paint scrapes). This is a California car with no rust except for minor issues on bottom of rear window,  around one of the tail lights, and under the trunk carpet. Some minor paint issues (see photos).

Specifications:  350 V-8 with only 107,377 miles

                            Automatic Transmission in great shape

Air Conditioning (with new Freon and equipment included to re-charge the AC)

New heater core, new master cylinder for brakes

Minor Issues:  Rear quarter panel (driver side) appears to have been re-painted early in the car’s life as you can tell a very, very slight difference in color. Slight rust on bottom of rear window. Surface rust in trunk area under the carpeting (no rust from the bottom of the car). Slight rust near one of the rear driver’s side tail lights. Original interior is in good condition but has a couple tears in the vinyl and needs to be stitched. The rear window ledge (interior) has faded somewhat from the sun and is coming away from the window frame (see photo). The tires have fair amount of tread left but will need to be replaced soon as the rubber is fairly old. Engine idles slightly rough.

Summary:

A very nice car for someone who wants to restore to its original glory – the frame is straight and true. Has the desirable split front bumper. Has original matching numbers on the frame and the motor. The automatic transmission has been checked by a reputable garage and works great. Been well maintained and housed in garage for most of its life. I have tried to honestly describe all the issues that I know of – this is a 44 year old car so it will not look quite as good today as it did in 1970.

GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design

Sat, Jun 6 2015

General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures. Andrew Smith, who previously did that job and also coordinated the look for Cadillac, has remained in charge of the pen at Caddy with this shift. Nesbitt rose to prominence when he designed the Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to Automotive News. He joined GM in 2001 and has been there ever since in multiple high-level roles. In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there. In addition, John Cafaro becomes the person in charge of the look for Chevy globally, rather than previously splitting that role between cars and trucks with Parkinson. GM Global Design Leadership Changes – effective June 1, 2015. Bryan Nesbitt, Design Vice President, GM China will repatriate to North America and assume the position of Executive Director, Global Buick and Global Architectures. He will be located in Warren, MI. Bryan will be the design Champion for Buick in the US and China. Ken Parkinson, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture will assume the position of Design Vice President, GM China. He will be based in Shanghai, China. Andrew Smith, Executive Director, Global Cadillac and Buick Design will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Cadillac. He will continue to be the design Champion for the Cadillac brand. In addition, he will continue to lead the Global Color & Trim team. He will be based in Warren, Michigan. John Cafaro, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Cars will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Chevrolet. He will be the design Champion for Chevrolet. In addition, John will lead the exterior components and accessories team. He will continue to be based in Warren, MI. The roles and responsibilities of Helen Emsley, Mark Adams, Carlos Barba, Clay Dean, Michael Simcoe, and Teckla Rhoades remain the same. Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
