2003 Chevrolet SSR – 29,000 miles – one-owner – Perfect Carfax The Chevrolet SSR is a very unique vehicle. It was made for only four years, 2003-2006, and in very limited quantities. It combines the practicality of a pickup truck with the fun of a two-seater convertible. This SSR comes equipped with a 5.3L V8 300HP engine that gets about 20mpg on the highway. Fully equipped with every option available, this SSR is also signed by Jimmy Johnson and has a unique SSR book which was only sold in the first year signed by the author and Jimmy Johnson. The leather interior is complimented by the lined power convertible roof, rear glass window with defroster, roll-over protection, dual power remote heated mirrors, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors, day-night rearview mirror, 8-way (6-way power) driver seat, 4-way (2-way power) front passenger seat, air compressor, dual zone front manual air conditioning, single in-dash mounted CD, cruise control, power with 2 stage unlock door locks, key fob (all doors) remote keyless entry, key fob trunk/hatch/door release and full instrumentation. This one-owner SSR with the perfect Carfax has never left Southern California and is a smoke free vehicle. Meticulously maintained by its owner it has never been driven in the rain and has always been garaged. Being driven less than 3,000 miles per year, this SSR was purely for fun and for show. Fully documented with recent maintenance including a new battery and new tires, so particular was its owner, the rear compartment has never been used. The undercarriage looks as good as the top. The hood stripe and other accents are decals and can be easily removed should you so desire. Questions, please call John, 858-212-5396. At Fun Cars we firmly believe that "Life is too short to drive boring cars". This car is for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction early. |

Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega
Sat, 19 Oct 2013Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
