Up for auction is my 1954 Chevrolet Model 3100, Three Window Half Ton Pickup. The Engine is a 1954, 235 Inline Six Cylinder that was rebuilt in 2006 and the Transmission is the Optional Heavy Duty Three Speed by Borg Warner, T89 with 9 bolt side cover. This was rebuilt two months ago at a cost of $1100.00.
I bought this truck on eBay approximately 3 years ago from a Hot Rod Shop in Bakersfield, California.
This is not a show truck, but it looks great and starts right up. When I bought the truck it already had the Red & White Paint job and the oak in the bed with the Stainless Strips and Bolts.
The Truck, to my knowledge has not had a frame off restoration.
Since I have owned it I have done the following;
Front Spindles have new modern Roller Bearings and Seals. The front and rear Leaf Springs are new, as are the Shackles, Eye Bolts and Bushings. There are new Shock Absorbers front and rear. The entire Brake System is new including NOS Emergency Brake Cables, new Drums front and rear, new Brake Shoes and Brake Wheel Cylinders, new Steel Brake Lines and Rubber Hoses and a rebuilt Brake Master Cylinder. (It has a small leak at the rubber boot)
I have not done any work on the Steering Components. It could be addressed, but it steers just fine currently. The steering box has a small leak.
I have replaced the entire electrical wiring front to back and in the cab. All new switches, headlight, dimmer, turn signals and brake lights. The previous owner had replaced the two Gauge Clusters with new twelve volt models. The gauges all work except the oil pressure gauge. I have a replacement oil pressure gauge for replacement, but I can no longer do the work. An aftermarket oil gauge is installed under the dash and works just fine, the mileage on the odometer is what is on the new gauge cluster and this is the number of miles I have driven it. The actual mileage is not known to me.
The truck at idle registers 50-55 pounds of oil pressure.
The entire Fuel System has been replaced including the Fuel Tank behind the seat, sending unit, fuel lines from Tank to Carb. The Carb is a rebuilt one and a Glass Bowl Filter is at the Carb. I did not replace the Fuel Pump.
The original enclosed drive line was leaking badly when I got the truck. I replaced it with another one from a 1954 GMC Truck. I replaced the Axle Seals and after examining the gears replaced the cover gasket. No more leaks. The Ball Collar assembly was in terrible condition so I located a NOS GM Ball Collar assembly and installed it with new gaskets a seals. The U-Joint assembly was fine but I replaced it with a NOS one.
New Clutch, Pressure Plate, Throw Out Bearing, Pilot Bushing, Throw Out Bearing Fork and Starter Ring on the Re-Surfaced Flywheel was installed when Tranny was rebuilt.
New 12 volt Battery and a new Battery Tray, new Battery Cables and Ground Strap.
I put Electronic Ignition in the Distributor and a new Vacuum Advance, and a Flame Thrower Coil. The Truck quickly starts with the key on and a press of the Floor Starter Button.
All Glass is in excellent condition. The windows easily roll up and down. The Driver side wing window has a broken hinge, but I have the new Part and it goes with the truck.
The Interior came with truck when I bought it and it is done in Black Vinyl on the Seat and Door Panels. I added the Red Armrests from a 1955 Bel Air Rear Seat area. There are Ashtrays in the Armrests, but I don't smoke. Just for looks.
I installed a Wind Up Clock from a 1953 Chevy Bel Air. The Clock Housing is a 1937 Ford Taillight. The Clock works perfectly, but you need to wind it every 24-30 hours.
The Steering Wheel is from a 1953 Bel Air. The horn is new and does work with the push of a button under the dash by the ignition switch. The original Steering Wheel goes with the Truck and the Horn Button on this Wheel is new.
The Dome Light is Chrome and works great.
I refinished the Oak Bed Wood with Gloss Helmsman by Minwax. Water beads up on this finish and doesn't soak into the wood.
I placed the Rear Turn Signals in the Top Bed Rails.
The Chrome Bumpers and Grille were on the truck when I purchased it and they are in good condition.
The Wheels are 15 x 8 Ralleye Wheels, six lug, and the Hubcaps are new 1953 Chevrolet Hubcaps modified to fit the Ralleye Wheels. The Tires and Wheels came with the Truck. The Rear Tires are size P255 70R 15 and the Front Tires are size P235 60R 15, and are Yokohama Avid S/T Radials. There is good tread on these tires.
The License Plates are 1951 California Plates with the appropriate 1954 metal tab on the rear. The Title is clear and these are the plates that go with the truck. They look great on the Truck.
I found and rebuilt a Chevrolet Heater for the truck. I installed a new 12 volt motor and the core was inspected by a radiator shop. The temperature control valve is a newly rebuilt one and the hoses and shut off valve are new. I have not connected the wire to the NOS switch yet, but the heater gets warm.
I detailed the engine compartment as best as I could. I hand lettered the valve cover and repainted the Oil Filter.
The cowl vent works and the doors open and close. The Driver door rattles a bit. The Truck is kept in my one Car Garage and never sees rain. The wiper arms are intact. The rubber vacuum hose is missing that goes from the Intake Manifold to the Wiper Switch. I have never used the wipers so I don't know the condition of the Vacuum Switch.
The Truck has a new Rubber Floor Mat and Firewall Cover.
As far as the Body goes, It looks as if there was a metal plate welded in the bed at one time and was removed to install the oak bed wood and Stainless Strips. The paint inside the bed is a satin finish. The tailgate fits tightly between the bed sides. The Tail Gate Chains are new. I'll include the old ones.
The rust spot on the passenger side cowl, not being a body and fender guy, I can only describe. If you look under the truck at the firewall, a softball size hole is in the first layer but does not go through into the cab. The side panel where the Heater is mounted has a rust outline where the fender is bolted to the cab. Whoever painted the vehicle did so over this spot and installed kick panels to conceal. I expect that the fender will have to be removed to repair this issue. The rear cab corners have had a repair before paint. The paint is shiny red and there are small dents and some scratches and some touch up areas are visible.
If you are looking for a daily driver Truck that looks great and runs good and strong to have fun with, or a project to improve and make it yours, this is it. It is the way it was in 54 so you will know you are driving a real truck. If you have V8/Auto swap in mind, this is a great candidate for that. I had always hoped that Chip Foose would steal it, but that's not happening. Top speed on this one is about 55-60, currently.
I have the original overload springs that came off the truck and you are welcome to those. I have receipts for just about everything I did and the engine rebuild from 2006. I have original manuals for the 54 Truck and BorgWarner Transmission.
If you have zero feedback, DO NOT BID until you contact me first.
Look at the photos provided before you bid. Ask me any and all questions you have before you bid. If you win the auction there is no renegotiation. I have described the truck to my best ability. The Truck is being sold as is and there are no returns.
A deposit of U.S. $1,000.00 to be made within 72 hours of auction close and full payment to be made within 7 days of Auction Close.
It is the buyer's responsibility for pick up and shipping. I will work with your shipper. Semi Trucks can not get to my house easily.
The Truck is advertised locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
Good Luck Bidding.

Porsche wins the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sun, Jun 14 2015The question going into this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans was whether or not the Porsche 919 Hybrid would be able to combine its qualifying pace with race reliability. After battling neck-and-neck with Audi's R18 for most of the race, the answer is a resounding yes. Not only did Porsche drivers climb the first two spots on the podium, they did so without any major mishaps on track. This win is the first overall trophy for Porsche since 1998. Audi previously won the last five races, and 13 of the last 15. Corvette also returned to the winner's circle, with the No. 64 C7.R taking winning the GTE Pro division. The victory is the first class win for Corvette since 2011. KCMG won the LMP2 class in ninth overall. With 45 minutes to go the No. 98 Aston Martin crashed out of first place in GTE Amateur, giving the class win to SMP Racing's Ferrari and second place to the Patrick Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 RSR. For the full list of official results, click here. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. For most of the race, the battle at the top went back and forth between the two German manufacturers. An tire puncture in the No. 7 Audi gave up the lead to Porsche, and moments later a crash forced the No. 8 into the garage. But a three-minute replacement of the front and rear bodywork kept the Audi in contention. As the race wore into the night, Porsche maintained a slightly faster pace than Audi. Nick Tandy took the lead on Lap 253 early Sunday morning, and car No. 19 never gave up the top position. The win is the first for all three drivers of the No. 19 – Nico Hulkenberg, Earl Bamber, and Nick Tandy. A lap behind in second was the No. 17 Porsche. The Audis fought reliability problems late in the race but still finished third with the No. 7 R18. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. As the Aston Martin cars dropped away, the lone Corvette Racing entry took over, followed by a charging AF Corse team Ferrari 458 Italia. The Corvette and Ferrari continued to trade places in the final hours until gearbox trouble forced the No. 51 Ferrari out of contention. It was eventually passed by the other AF Corse car, No. 71. Nissan experienced all the pain of a first-year effort with its front-wheel-drive GT-R LM Nismo.
Chevrolet To Oversee Restoring Sinkhole Corvettes
Fri, Feb 14 2014What Mother Earth devoured, Chevrolet plans to resurrect. The carmaker said Thursday it will oversee restoration of the classic cars swallowed by a huge sinkhole beneath the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky. General Motors Design in Warren, Mich., will manage the painstaking work to repair the eight prize vehicles, the automaker said Thursday. The cars were consumed when the earth opened up early Wednesday beneath a display area when the museum in Bowling Green, Ky., was closed. No injuries were reported. The museum was open Thursday except for the area where the sinkhole occurred. Mark Reuss, GM's head of global product development, said the damaged vehicles rank as "some of the most significant in automotive history." "There can only be one 1-millionth Corvette ever built," he said, referring to one of the damaged cars. "We want to ensure as many of the damaged cars are restored as possible so fans from around the world can enjoy them." Just how the cars will be pulled out of the ground remains to be seen, said museum executive director Wendell Strode. The local fire department estimated the hole is about 40 feet across and 25 to 30 feet deep. The hole opened beneath part of the museum's domed section. "We feel pretty confident that most of the cars can be extracted," Strode said Thursday. "And we hope and believe that with just a little bit of luck, that all eight cars can be extracted and be part of the restoration." Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran said some of the cars look to be in good shape, while others are buried in rubble. "It will likely be several weeks until we can get the cars out and assessed," he said. The GM Design team has helped restore other historic cars, but the Corvette project looks to be its biggest, he said. "These Corvettes are part of our history, and they want them restored properly," Strode said. "We're thrilled they're doing this." The cars looked like toys as they plunged into the hole, piled in a heap amid dirt and concrete fragments. The museum owns six of the cars while two - a 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 Blue Devil - are on loan from General Motors. The other cars damaged were a 1962 black Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car, a 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette, a 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette and a 2009 white 1.5 Millionth Corvette. Pictures of the sinkhole showed a collapsed section of floor with multiple cars visible inside the hole.
GM to restore legendary Corvette damaged in sinkhole accident
Fri, Dec 5 2014Car lover's hearts' sank when they saw images of bent and destroyed classic Corvettes at the bottom of a sinkhole last February after the floor of the National Corvette Museum gave way. General Motors announced Wednesday it would restore the one millionth Corvette ever produced to its former glory. The 1992 convertible was heavily damaged when a 40-foot deep sinkhole opened beneath a bevy of rare cars at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Since then, GM has been slowly restoring the classic cars, though five of the eight that caught in the sinkhole were determined to be too damaged to repair. This November, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil was the first car to be returned in mint condition to the Museum, according to Autoblog. It suffered significant damage but was still drivable after being pulled out of the debris. The one millionth Corvette is still in bad shape. The automaker is estimating six months worth of work to restore the car, which sustained paint scratches, rear-suspension damage and a mangled front fender.
