1951 Chevrolet 5700 Coe Excellent Cab, Runs, All Original on 2040-cars
Canaan, Connecticut, United States
|
Up for bid is a 1951 Chevy Cab Over Engine (COE) model 5700. This truck is all original and is rock solid. Just about everything works ,speedometer, oil pressure ,amp gauge, gas gauge, temp gauge, heater. Wipers are slow because I think there is a vacuum leak and have not looked for it. 2 speed rear has a new diaphragm and new lines to it, but not sure if it works because of vacuum leak. The fuel tank has been cleaned and sealed and has a new sending unit and new fill and vent hose. Front end has new wheel cylinders both sides and new brake hoses. Brake shoes were at least 75% so they we not changed. Right front has new wheel bearings and of course new seals both sides. I did not change any thing in back but have new rear seals for the back in boxes. Also have a new brake hose for the rear in a box just haven't put in on. New brake line to the rear end .Seat has been redone. There is absolutely no rot on this truck other than a little blistering at the cab corners .There are a few dents in the doors and fenders but are totally fixable. This truck could easily be restored because every thing is there. The original wiring is there but it is a bit brittle. Or some one could put it on another chassis and make a car hauler out of it . Either way its a great truck to work with they don't come much more solid than this. Also have a new back window rubber, new weather stripping for doors, new door opening weather stripping (goes on inside of cab, also new quickwire wire harness still in box. Wire harness would be ok if you we not going to restore the truck. Also have new motor mounts and also have all the panels that have been removed from doors etc. There are probably some things I have missed or if you have questions call me at 860-307-7427. A deposit of $1000.00 is due no later than 48 hrs. after auction ends and balance paid by bank or certified check within 10 days of auction end. Deposit can be made thru pay pal, balance due MUST be cash, bank or certified check. Thank you for bidding

Next-gen Chevy Cruze caught cruising in the cold
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Spy photographers have caught what looks like the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze out on snow patrol. The camo could be tricking our eyes, but it look like it has an even tidier, more rounded front end and even lower fenders in relation to the top of the hood. And either a chunk of camo has been wedged between the side mirrors and the doors, or the mirrors are up for revision, too.
The door handles have been moved up the side of the car, leading the way to a rear end that grows a bit in length. If the rumors are true, the coming second-generation Cruze sits on the new D2XX platform that will replace the Delta and Theta platforms at General Motors. A global architecture, the Cruze will be the first to get it, but it will underpin everything from next Chevrolet Volt to the Equinox and could be responsible for 2.5 million units by 2018. The next Cruze is expected to begin production in GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant in the third quarter of 2014.
2016 Chevy Volt will be available across Canada, unlike most of US [UPDATE]
Wed, Sep 16 2015UPDATE: The story's been updated to add a response from General Motors of Canada. It's not enough that the Toronto Blue Jays may be the most intimidating team in Major League Baseball. Now, it appears that our neighbors to the north will also have some bragging rights in regards to General Motors' Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle. Specifically, most of Canada will have access to the 2016 version before most of the US will. In fact, the car will be available in Canada before people can buy it in Michigan. A trip to Windsor, Ontario, anyone? The Volt, which will boast a longer plug-in range than the current version, could go on sale in Canada as soon as November, GM Authority says. The model's second-generation version may debut in California as soon as this month, and is slated to be sold later this year in the 10 other states that abide by the so-called CARB (California Air Resources Board) rules for zero-missions vehicles. Those states include Oregon, Maine, New York and Massachusetts. But not GM's home state of Michigan. Either way, the new generation model's debut can't come soon enough for the US automaker, as Volt sales in 2015 have seriously lagged the 2014 numbers because of people waiting for the new version. "We will receive the 2016 Volt in Canada this fall, starting with our key Volt markets in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia," wrote General Motors of Canada spokesman George George Saratlic in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen. "Note these are also the three provinces that provide provincial incentives on EV purchases. We'll then roll out Volt to the rest of the country." Last week, details were revealed about the first sales of the 2016 Volt, where marketing efforts will be concentrated among the largest plug-in buying states in the union. The other 39 states will get their shot starting next year with the 2017 model-year variant. Related Video:
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
