1962 Chevy Rampside Pickup-52 Yr. Old Patina- Barn Find Up for sale is a very rare, 1962 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside pickup truck aka "FC" (Forward Control)-Flat 6 cylinder /3 spd. manual /145 CID) This vehicle was acquired from the original owner this year and was revived to its current running and driving condition. It has a clear NJ title and is registered as a 2014 historic vehicle (QQ) in NJ. The truck comes in a very rare and original color combination -White with Omaha orange stripe (the original paint). The interior is a gold and white painted cab with orange vinyl and printed fabric seats also original. This truck lived and worked in Northern NJ most it's life as a roofing contractor workhorse and was parked back in the mid 90's. Only 4,100 units were made in 1962 and there are none left to speak of in this original condition. Barn Find-Original. Any Rampside especially in New Jersey, has been modified or molested in some way or repainted. Not this one. This one is in a time warp! Look at the photos! It was originally purchased at H.O.B. Motors in Plainfield, NJ. and the dealer logo is still mostly in tact on the rear panel. It has 60,000 +/- original miles on the odometer. The engine was rebuilt by the original owner at 55,000 miles. It runs, stops, and drives very well for its age. There are Bias Ply tires on the rear wheels and radials up front for easier handling. It has an amazing 52 year old color patina. The dash is radio delete but has a ash tray and glove box as the options. The heat works, the wipers work, the lights work, even the cigarette lighter works! The frame is very solid. It is a tank. The FC Rampside was just tuned up and has new brakes and brake lines all the way around. The gas tank was removed, chemically cleaned and washed and re-installed. All glass is good with no cracks. This vehicle has rust. Specifically, the door rockers/steps on both sides need to be replaced and the driver's side bed rocker needs to be replaced. The floors are solid with the exception of the areas adjacent to the rockers but nothing major. The bed is very solid with only surface rust. No holes. Doors are good and fit and latch properly. Has some dings in the bumpers but chrome is decent. Here are some things that will need attention for the prospective buyer.
This truck can be driven as a daily driver or lowered, slammed, bagged, as a rat rod or completely restored. It is the perfect candidate as it is unmolested. You never see these trucks anywhere. Yes...you see the Ford Econoline pickups and the Dodge A-100's but it is very rare to see the Chevy Rampside from that era. It was only made from 1961-65 and each year the production numbers dwindled down. If you want to turn heads this truck is all you need. I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately as possible based on the prior owner information, my inspection, and an auto technician's feedback. It is not perfect by any means but its a true running survivor! Drive it home. Make an offer. I might say yes! Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs
Thu, 03 Jan 2013General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. 2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite
Mon, 21 Jan 2013Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.
