1973 Chevy Truck on 2040-cars

Year:1973 Mileage:100000 Color: has some rust around the wheel wells and the drivers side door has a bunch of rust
Location:

Sheridan, Wyoming, United States

Sheridan, Wyoming, United States

CONDITION - This truck has a 454 engine that runs great, with an automatic transmission.  The transmission has a slow drip from the speedometer cable, but it has been like that for as long as I have owned it (about 10 years) and I have never had a problem with it.  Right now it drives a little sluggish since it has been sitting for over a year, but it was my daily driver before I got a new truck, and it drove great when i parked it.  The seat has a couple flaws in the fabric and the oil pressure and speedometer are the only gauges currently working.  Gas gauge needs a new sending unit in the tank to be operational.  Exterior has some rust around the wheel wells and the drivers side door has a bunch of rust.  This was a 1/2 ton body put on a 3/4 ton chassis as a project truck from the guy I bought it from.  Not sure how many miles are actually on it since the odometer has been switched out a couple times.  When I used to drive it, I would put on average 2,000miles/year on it so it definitely has a lot of life left in it.

FEATURES - This vehicle has a 2" suspension lift, and has BFG Mud Terrain tires on custom rims as seen in the photo.  Tires are in good shape as well as the the rims.  Has a plastic "Protecta" bed liner and a brush guard on the front.  This truck DOES have a tow package.

HISTORY - I bought this truck from a local guy about 10 years ago.  Unsure if he was original owner.  I DO have a clean title in hand however.

SHIPPING AND PAYMENT - Buyer is responsible for shipping and or pickup of this vehicle.  Once the transaction is complete, buyer assumes all liability of shipping arrangements and associated costs.  Paypal is preferred method of payment.  Cash or cashier's check will also be accepted.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra show all their sides in Detroit

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

There could hardly be more riding on the next-generation General Motors full-size pickup trucks, so the automaker has wisely made sure to have a selection of different models on hand at the Detroit Auto Show to show off. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra were both officially introduced last month at a stand-alone reveal, and now they'll be on display for the public to see in various body configurations and trim levels.
The Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and Sierra SLE Extended Cab are aimed at providing more of a high-end pickup experience, while the Silverado LT Z71 Extended Cab and Sierra SLT Z71 Crew Cab should have off-road fans scouting out their favorite trails. The crew cab trucks won't go into production until sometime during the second quarter of this year - with other bodystyles coming later in the year - but we have plenty of live images from Detroit for you to enjoy.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
