1972 Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback Belgium Beige Station Wagon Super Clean on 2040-cars

US $14,000.00
Year:1972 Mileage:5 Color:
Location:

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Up for sale is a 1972 Volkswagen Type 3 (III) Squareback. This car is super clean and drives as a California cruiser should!

History: The car recently came to Atlanta, Georgia from California. The car is absolutely RUST FREE and the body is super straight. All receipts of the car from the past 3 owners are included and list extensive history which dates back to 1988.

Body: The car was recently painted on the exterior (pictures to prove) with original Belgium Beige and  Standox Clear Coat. The Standox clear coat comes with a 30 year no fade warranty (from a renowned paint shop in Georgia, D&I Body Shop). Unfortunately, there is 1 dime size chip under the passenger pop out window and small scratch near the passenger window, (only visible to the super OCD). However, willing to get the car touched up. The floor pans and the rest of the body show that the car has been in a very dry environment for its entire life and has no signs of rust, holes, or leaks. The car/window seals are all new which prevents any water from getting in.

New: All new glass seals, chrome, paint job, rebuilt transmission. The interior is in very good shape.

The Good : the entire interior is super clean and nearly new. The seats are easy to adjust, the panels are in great condition, and the car handles as it should. This cruiser is completely stock - aside from the fuel injection engine being converted to Dual Carbs. It gives the extra power which allows you to shift up while driving up hill and comfortably drive 80 mph on the highway (the speedometer actually read 90!!! but def 10 mph off). Additionally, the VW drove from Atlanta,GA to Chattanooga,TN for the Bug-a-Puluza show and had no issues and handled the highway great. The car is tight, with no shakes, rattles, or stranger noises.

The Bad: I haven't had a chance to mess with the turning signals which aren't currently working, although they light up when the lights are on. The odometer doesn't work (But the speedometer does), and the two small dime size chip/scratch in the paint.

Willing to answer any additional questions or email any additional photos upon request. Don't let such a rust free and straight Squareback like this pass you by. There is no headache left with this Volkswagen, just pure fun!

Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

Wed, 22 May 2013

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Read the official announcement after the break.
