1999 Volkswagen Vw Eurovan Weekender Vr6 Engine on 2040-cars
Roanoke, Virginia, United States
|
We have decided to sell our 1999 VW Eurovan Weekender van. We bought it last year and liked it so much that we decided to purchase a full camper version. We were told that the van was a one owner and owned by the man that owned the VW dealership where we bought it, so I would imagine that it was well maintained. The Weekender package includes a fold down rear bench seat (big bed), full set of window curtains (never used), fold up table with a fluorescent light, and reverse facing captain chairs. The van has the digital CLIMAtronic dual zone front/rear heat and A/C, the original Premium stereo cassette player, power windows and locks, automatic transmission, cruise control, and rear opening (sliding) windows. It has a class III trailer hitch installed (which was used for a bike carrier, therefore there is no wiring for trailer lights but could be added) and a never used full size spare tire. The engine is the VR6, which delivers plenty of power while yielding good gas milage. The transmission functions flawlessly in all gears. The interior is in good shape, there are no tears on any of the seats, just regular wear. The carpet has a worn spot just inside the sliding door that we duct taped (see the photos). The body is in good shape, never wrecked and no dents to speak of, however the roof and hood are loosing the clear coat (you can see this pealing off in the photos). The check engine light has been on during our entire ownership, don't know why, never took the time to check it out. At highway speeds it has a faint shimmy, so I took it in to have an alignment, they said the alignment was good but that the front tires were "out-of-round". A set of new front tires will solve it, buy all four tires have loads of tread left, so we didn't worry about it. I have tried to cover all the good and bad as best I can, however I encourage anyone interested in it to call me with any questions 540-598-8331. I would also encourage everyone to come see it in person if possible. This is a used car not a new one, so it is sold with no warrantee expressed or implied. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this van anywhere, so if you'd like to fly in and drive it home I will happily meet you at the airport, Or I will drop it off at any local Roanoke Virginia shipping depot at no charge. Thanks for looking.
***I was adjusting the rear view mirror yesterday and managed to grip it too hard and snapped the windshield, so now it comes with a cracked windshield*** |

Volkswagen looking to acquire Proton, Lotus?
Thu, 26 Jul 2012Let's say you're an automaker bent on world domination looking to grow your sales. That's going to have you looking at Asian markets, because that's where some of the biggest growth has been, and that's exactly what Volkswagen is doing as it considers making another run at Malaysia's Proton.
Reuters reports that Volkswagen is interested in at least a partial stake, if not a controlling interest in Lotus-parent Proton as a way to continue a production presence in the region without having to build its own factory.
Volkswagen already builds the Passat in a DRB-HICOM facility in Pekan, Malaysia, and plans are in place to build the Jetta and Polo there, as well. With both southeast Asia and its relationship with Proton figuring so importantly in Volkswagen's plans for expansion, buying into Proton can help ensure stability. Volkswagen is being tight-lipped about the whole idea, but CEO Martin Winterkorn did recently say, "it's our clear goal to continue the successful (expansion) course of past years with great dynamics and stability," which sounds an awful lot like deals are on the table to smooth the path to further growth.
UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.
