1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet!! 52k Original Miles!!! Runs/drives! Cheap!! Vw Rabbit on 2040-cars
Plain City, Ohio, United States
Up for grabs is our 1986 VW Cabriolet Triple White Automatic trans..... with a real 52k miles, verified by the clean accident free Carfax and how clean the underside is!! Sat for several years in dry climate, and inside from we have verified(and by looking at how nice it is). Body is really nice and no visible corrosion! Has a minor bump on front drivers fender and a couple small thumb size dings on hood that are hard to even notice...that's it! Body lines and panels are straight!! The car definitely is ready for a mild resto/TLC, but it starts right up and drove down the street!! We are sure it will need to be fully serviced with fresh fluids and tune on the driveline, etc. Top is in "ok" shape, but brand new top skin is only $150 up here on Ebay. Someone put knock off Recaro seats in...they are actually nice and comfortable and properly installed, but not correct to the car. It will need some plastic bits on the dash, but it is all intact and the top of dash board itself is in good shape with no cracks. No speakers, but the stock VW stereo is intact. Leaks a little oil when running, but appears to be valve cover gasket from what we see(easy cheap fix). Needs some inexpensive exhaust work(prob muffler). Top boot cover is there. Tires have life left! Could be a really nice Cabriolet for Spring with some minor work. Most of the work needed is minor and we disclose anything we see! Feel free to call us at 614-600-8428 **SOLD AS-IS, NO WARRANTY** Please ask any questions before purchasing. We are happy to go over any of our vehicles thoroughly with you over the phone!

Autoblog Podcast #327:
Europeans get first crack at new Golf Variant wagon
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Just last week, when we brought you news of a new Volkswagen Golf variant out and testing in Europe, we had no idea we were being so literal with out description. For it seems that VW has every intention of calling its new Golf wagon, making its Geneva debut, the "Golf Variant."
Odd/interesting sobriquets taken as read then, there's a lot to like about this new small wagon from VW. The Variant will shed some 232 pounds in this generation, and will come to market with two efficient TDI engines. Volkswagen isn't giving us displacement figures for either yet, but we're told the diesels will come with outputs of 110 and 150 horsepower. The 110-hp TDI BlueMotion Varient will be good for a whopping 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle, when mated to the six-speed manual transmission.
The German automaker has brought along an all-wheel-drive 4Motion version of the Gold Variant to bow in Geneva, as well, and a natural gas-burning TGI BlueMotion is said to be "in the pipeline."
Volkswagen Routan dead, pour out a sippy cup for your little homies
Thu, 28 Mar 2013America's minivan wolfpack has just gotten smaller by one. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen officials have confirmed what we've suspected for some time - the Routan is dead. Essentially a lightly reworked version of the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Routan actually hasn't been rolling off of Chrysler's Windsor, Ontario production line at all this year, but VW had yet to confirm its discontinuation. However, Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW America, has reportedly admitted that the Routan is being axed, with remaining units expected to be funneled into corporate functions for "internal purposes."
The move isn't unexpected - the Routan has never been a big seller, with just 57,650 examples moved since sales began in 2008 - peak yearly sales totaled under 16,000 units, and that was back in 2010. And while many have talked of the minivan segment shrinking, Automotive News points out that the segment actually grew 14 percent last year to 597,118 units, though it should be noted that most segments have been on sales upticks as the US economy chugs out of its recession.
So, is volume-crazy Volkswagen prepared to pass on large family vehicle sales? Probably not - the German automaker has signaled that it plans to build a three-row crossover in North America soon, and we wouldn't be surprised if it looks an awful lot like the Crossblue Concept from January's Detroit Auto Show - minus the fancy plug-in diesel powertrain.
