THIS 74 CAMPER IS ALL ORIGINAL INSIDE AND OUT. STORED IN A GARAGE IN TEXAS SINCE 1982. STILL HAS THE 1982 TEXAS PLATE ON IT AND THE ORIGINAL TITLE FROM THAT PLATE. THIS IS A RARE FIND AND THE BEST FOUNDATION FOR AN EASY RESTORATION. THE BRAKES WILL NEED WORK. THE TIRES ARE BRAND NEW AND THE WHEELS HAVE BEEN BLASTED AND PAINTED. THE FLOORS ARE "PERFECTLY SOLID. EVERY SEAM ON THIS CAR IS FACTORY ORIGINAL. THE PAINT IS ORIGINAL AND CAN BE RESTORED. I COMPOUNDED A SPOT AND WAXED IT AND IT IS LIKE THE DAY IT WAS MADE DUE TO THE SINGLE STAGE PAINT. ALL CAMPING COMPONENTS ARE THERE AND WORKING. THE LITTLE STOOL IS THERE AS WELL. ALL WINDOWS WORK AND THE KEY AND ALL CONTROLS WORK WHEN POWER IS PUT TO IT. THE MOTOR TURNS BUT I HAVE NOT STARTED IT. I JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO PLAY WITH IT RIGHT NOW BUT I AM 99% SURE IT WILL FIRE UP WITH SOME GAS AND A GOOD BATTERY. THE MUFFLER LOOKS LIKE IT WILL NEED REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A SIMPLE CAR TO PUT ON THE ROAD. IF YOU GET IT RUNNING AND DO SOME BRAKE WORK YOU CAN EASILY DRIVE IT AS IS. YOU WON'T SEE ANOTHER ORIGINAL PAINT RUST FREE CAR THAT SURVIVED LIKE THIS ONE. I USED TO RESTORE OLD PORSCHES AND I GET VERY EXCITED WHEN I SEE AN ORIGINAL CAR THAT'S UNMOLESTED. I HOPE YOU DO TOO. PLEASE CALL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT 561-318-0010 OR JUST EMAIL THROUGH EBAY. THANKS AND GOOD LUCK

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet
Thu, 07 Mar 2013The Golf VI's Last Hurrah Is Pure Niche
This was in the heart of the ultra-chic Côte d'Azur during winter. The car to be tested was the not-for-North America 2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet. Prevailing weather conditions here this time of year are bizarrely pleasant, as though a dome of Swarovski crystal has been placed over the entire region to protect it from any real winter spoiling things. And the zippy Golf R Cabriolet is a sports car designed precisely for this area's preciously narrow winding streets, as well as for the lofty budgets of its property owners.
So then why was it snowing like we were in northern Michigan? The weather front hit from the north like a swift kick to the Jordaches. The roof was open on this Candy White Golf R Cabrio and I, as is my wont, was determined through thick or thin to keep it retracted. It had been raining and sometimes sleeting like the End of Days, but I kept the lid cracked because the 261-horsepower cabrio - the most powerful convertible ever built by Volkswagen - was snipping along nicely as the bad weather blew over my head and wetted only the rear headrests.
Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers
Fri, 19 Apr 2013The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.
