Freshly Restored Fj 40. Beautiful! Ultra Clean. on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
|
This awesome ’64 FJ-40 4x4 was just treated to a complete, ground up restoration. It features a powerful Chevy 350 V8 mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. The completely rebuilt engine has been properly broken in and lifters properly adjusted. The body is laser straight and she tracks perfectly. The undercarriage, floors, frame, and all body panels are absolutely rust free, as they were all restored or replaced as needed during the restoration. This is a no excuses FJ. You will not be disappointed. She gets many thumbs up gestures every time I take her out. The tires and wheels (5) are brand new as is the ProComp suspension. 4WD engages perfectly. Brand new starter and fuel pump. The bikini top is new and in perfect condition. All gauges work as they should. Dual gas tanks. I do not have the doors or other tops. What you see in the pics is what I have. If I was planning on keeping this truck, the only thing I would consider adding is disc brakes on the front. Odometer reads a little under 25k miles but I have no idea how many miles are truly on the truck. Please feel free to shoot me a note if you have questions. I will do my best to answer them but I did not personally restore this vehicle. I am happy to shoot you pics or video of any other areas of the FJ you would like to see. The entire truck is virtually spotless. If you are not a serious bidder/buyer, please be respectful of our time. If you have zero feedback, please contact me before you place a bid. Please do not ask the reserve price. That said, you will not find a nicer FJ for anywhere close to what I am willing to take on this truck! I will work with the buyer to coordinate shipping and I am happy to store the car for you for a couple of weeks or so until you can pick it up or have a shipping company pick it up. It is currently kept in my garage in San Diego, CA, only minutes from the airport. Please note, this truck will not leave my garage until funds have cleared. There is no warranty of any kind included or implied. This is a great FJ that is very reasonably priced. I just need to make room in the garage, so somebody is going to get a great deal. Don’t let this one get away! I reserve the right to end the auction early if a deal is reached. Good luck bidding! |

Toyota Mirai might be the name of new fuel cell car; it means 'future'
Wed, Jul 30 2014Anybody remember the Ford Futura? It wasn't exactly a world-beater of a car, so we don't think the name Toyota's has apparently chosen for its first production fuel-cell vehicle is a tribute of sorts. Though one never knows. Maybe Toyota just likes 18-inch-tall EVs. The Japanese automaker has apparently settled on a nameplate for its fuel-cell model, and the name will be "Mirai," which means "future" in Japanese, Bloomberg News says, citing a person familiar with the process that it didn't identify. Bloomberg couldn't get anyone with Toyota to comment on record about the name – and neither could AutoblogGreen – but we do remember that Toyota has bandied this name about before, so we're not setting anything down in stone quite yet. Last month, Toyota said the new fuel cell car would debut in Japan next April and would be priced at about $69,000 before any sort of government incentives kicked in. The company hasn't revealed details about a US release date or pricing here, but indicated that US sales would start where there's already some semblance of a hydrogen-refueling infrastructure. That pretty much means California and nowhere else in the states. The fuel-cell model is said to have a full-tank range of about 435 miles and that the tank can be filled up in about three minutes, similar to a gas-powered vehicle. In other words, the future.
2014 Toyota Corolla to bow before LA
Sat, 30 Mar 2013We've sort of been wondering when Toyota would finally debut the next-generation Corolla sedan, especially since the current car is getting very, very long in the tooth. We got a glimpse of the new compact's design at this year's Detroit Auto Show in the form of the Furia concept seen above, but we figured we'd see the production car by now.
According to Edmunds, Toyota will be unveiling the new Corolla sometime soon, and it won't wait until the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Officials from the Japanese automaker did not state a specific location or date for the new car's unveiling, but said that the 2014 Corolla is expected to be on sale before the LA expo later this year and that it will be revealed "somewhere in the US."
Toyota did not divulge any details about the new Corolla, and we're willing to bet that the aggressive lines of the Furia concept will be dulled down quite a bit for the production model. Still, news that the new car is coming sooner rather than later is indeed a good thing.
Toyota GT86 gets TRD treatment in UK
Fri, 08 Feb 2013As dearly as we love the Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ franchise, we readily admit we wouldn't look sideways at a model with a bit more firepower. And while that's not quite on the table yet, Toyota has been busy amping up the visual firepower of its rear-drive coupe with a whole host of TRD parts. To this point, that's been a largely à la carte affair, but the automaker's UK outpost has just announced a special-edition model that allows our British friends to pick up the whole shooting match all in one go.
The Toyota GT86 TRD will only be available in black and white, and just 250 examples are to be built. As you can see from the excellent gallery above, the catalog of look-faster bits include a more aggressive front air dam, side skirts, rear bumper fascia, spoiler and unique 18-inch forged alloys. Additional flourishes include a TRD shift lever and branded radiator cap. The sole concession to actual performance? A "fast-response quad exhaust" that might only improve things audibly - 0-62 mph is apparently unchanged at 7.7 seconds, and the top end is still 140 mph for the manual transmission model. (The auto gets by with 8.4 seconds and 130 mph).
Pricing? Glad you asked. £31,495 for GT 86 TRD manual, £32,995 for the automatic - that's nearly $50,000 US for the tripedalist and just over for the automatic. (Those are heady prices, but bear in mind that UK MSRPs and taxes are generally significantly higher than their US counterparts). If the standard GT86 is more your speed, it still rings up at a more affordable £24,995 - roughly $39,500 - leaving plenty of budget for actual performance parts. No word yet on North American availability of a special TRD model, but we've got a call in...
