I'm reluctantly selling my FJ to pay for house remodeling. The previous owner did all it's upgrades, he owned it for 23 years, as a dealer shop foreman, he upgraded this beautiful FJ to perfection. Here is a list of what I know was done but I'm sure there are much more..

- Crate Chevy 350 TPI V8 motor with all installation and wiring done to perfection.
- BAR sticker, a very important item. No Smog problems.
- 4 speed manual transmission from an early 60s Douce&half Army truck, very solid and robust tranny.
- Orion Transfer case.
- Spring over suspension.
- Front and rear disc brakes.
- Power steering.
- Aluminum Radiator.
- Push button start.
- Full floating rear axle.
- Heavy duty Warn winch with remote control cable.
- Custom front roll bumper.
- Almost new Goodyear Wrangle 33inch tires.
- Full roll cage.
- Rear mounted air tank with flexible hose.
- Under seat mounted air compressor.
- Sony stereo deck with Amplifier and 4 speakers.
- Brand new Optima blue top battery.
- Repainted in Sahara beige over a year ago.
- Full STC of Denver Colorado soft top with extra soft doors and side windows.
- New Bikini top.
- Lockable Tuffy center console.

Most of the major work has been done within the last few years. I'm sure there is much more. The interior is pretty stock, seats are from an earlier Camry, the rubber dash is long gone but I'm sure one can be acquired online. This FJ runs and drives great, no leaks, blinkers, lights, horn, heater work perfectly, odometer is showing 2210 miles but I'm sure it's 102210. Undercarriage is very clean, no rust. I just renewed the registration, it's good till Aug/ 2015. I will regret selling it as I'm sure I'll never find another one done so right like this one. It does not have reverse light. I have title on hand, serious buyers please, no low ballers. Thank you.

Toyota nearing $1B settlement of unintended acceleration criminal probe

    Sun, 09 Feb 2014

According to those all-too-nebulous "people familiar with the matter," Toyota is close to a settlement with the US federal government to end a criminal probe over its long-running unintended acceleration fiasco. Though Toyota has never admitted guilt, the deal could reportedly crest a billion dollars and would likely include a criminal deferred prosecution agreement, and while we're not legal experts, The Wall Street Journal explains that such a deal would "[force Toyota] to accept responsibility while avoiding the potentially crippling consequences of federal criminal convictions."
The report from WSJ also suggests that Toyota is facing charges that it "made false or incomplete disclosures" to various government agencies regarding possible defects to its cars. Such charges may include mail and wire fraud violations. Toyota has already paid out fines totaling $66.2 million to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because it failed to report safety defects in a timely manner.
This deal with the federal government is not related to the billion-dollar class-action settlement reached with Toyota owners over falling vehicle values, and it's also different from the roughly 400 lawsuits still in courts alleging personal injury of wrongful death due to cases of unintended acceleration. In other words, don't expect to hear the end of such courtroom verdicts and settlements anytime soon...

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

    Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.

Sports 800 is a progenitor of Toyota performance

    Tue, 18 Nov 2014

There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.
