What you are about to fall in love with and bid to win, is a purpose built, fully caged, monster of a 1977 Porsche 930 track car! It has tons of goodies. The engine is a 1980 3.3 liter intercooled turbo motor (engine code 930/60), that was pulled from a 30K mile car, was thoroughly inspected by one of the most respected Porsche shops in South Florida, and found to be so perfect, that the owner of the shop recommended the studs be replaced (there was nothing wrong with them, but if you know Porsches, you know why), and put back together. It runs absolutely perfect. Has custom exhaust with a single middle outlet. This car is as mean as they come! The sound is incredible. The pull is incredible. The car is incredible! I’ve owned a few Porsche’s, and this is the baddest one I’ve had! One of the greatest things about it is that it's a true 930! Gets lots of looks, and draws crowds everywhere I go. Not uncommon to hear the words “This guy is nuts”, when people are looking it (mind you, they have to scream it out if they are standing behind the car!)! Scares old ladies and children just by sitting there idling! And best of all, it’s street legal. The roll cage was built to NASCAR specs by a person that builds roll cages for NASCAR. Suspension has been modified from torsion to full race coil overs. Has a carbon fiber hood, fiberglass period correct whale tail, and fiberglass front and rear RS bumpers. Wheels on the car right now are the factory 15X9 Fuchs. For those in the know, I'll repeat that... FACTORY 15X9 FUCHS! It has the 15X8's up front. Again, if you know Porsche, you know they aren't a big deal... They're a HUGE deal! Needless to say, the car may be sold with a set of 16x8 and 16x7 Turbo Fuchs, so bid fast, or hit buy it now. If I go ahead and remove the wheels I will update the listing. Either way, it has very new tires right now, and will have new one’s if I swap out the wheels. Brand new 4-spd transmission. The interior boasts a carbon fiber Sparco race seat, Momo Steering wheel, RS door panels, full roll cage, Lexan windows on the rear qtrs., and doors, and a VERY clean job at gutting the interior. This is one of, if not the cleanest 930 track car, and maybe even one of the cleanest 930’s overall that you will find. Great track day or vintage racing car. Also good to just run around to car meets and shows. I do not have any documentation on the car, but PPI's are very welcome! If you want to do a PPI, you must pay for it, and it must be done prior to your bid winning, or before hitting buy it now. I will not allow any PPI's after the auction has closed, as I know the game, and a post auction BS PPI is the easiest way out of a deal. PPI's are to be done by local, respectable Porsche only shops. No backyard mechanics are getting anywhere near my car! You will not be disappointed. Car is located in Miami, FL., and is listed locally for sale. I reserve the right to end the auction early should I sell it locally. If you are local, or want to visit sunny South Florida, please call Ralph at 786-587-3991 to arrange a viewing. Also, if anyone wants to see it in person there are a couple caveats… No dreamers, NO tire kickers, and definitely NO joy rides. As a matter of fact, no test drives until I see $$$$$. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Clean and clear title. Vehicle is sold AS-IS without any warranty whatsoever, expressed or implied.

'Faster. Farther.' dives into the history of Porsche racing tech

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

No doubt, Porsche has produced some of the best endurance racecars around, such as the turbocharged, slant-nose 935 of the 1970s and the ground-effects-enhanced 956 and 962 of the 1980s. But the company's most famous racecar, its first overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was the 917.
The 917 embodied many of Porsche's technological achievements up to that point, such as the company's first 12- and 16-cylinder engines (the flat-16 was never used in competition), fiberglass bodies that implemented early aerodynamic practices and the use of new, exotic materials, such as magnesium and titanium.
The racecar was commissioned by the head of Porsche Motorsports, Ferdinand Piëch, to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, after he realized a loophole in the rules that allowed cars to compete with engines up to five liters in the Sport category if they were also production models. Piëch saw opportunity: the top prototype class was restricted to three liters; the production minimum to compete in Sport was 25 cars. And so, with much effort, Porsche assembled 25 "production" 4.5-liter 917s and had them parked in a neat line for the race inspectors to verify their legitimacy. It didn't take long before people realized the new Porsches were much faster than the prototype racers, with a top speed approaching 250 miles per hour.

Build your dream garage with this insane prize from Omaze

Autoblog may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Pricing and availability is subject to change. No donation or payment necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. See official rules on Omaze. Normally when we write about Omaze sweepstakes, they involve a car that you'd never go out and buy on your own. A six-figure camper van build, a $300,000 Ford Bronco restoration, a Land Rover Defender that's so beautiful it should be in a museum. Today's prize might beat out all of those, because not only could you win a dream car, you'll be entered for a chance to win $100k cash to go along with it.  There are a lot of cars you can buy with $100k. You could buy a Land Cruiser Heritage Edition or a Mustang GT500 or 6 Chevy Sparks and start your own racing series. Personally, if I won that kind of dough, assuming I also won this Bentley Bentayga, my favorite of Omaze's current offerings, I'd probably use some of it to buy something quirky, like a Honda Element converted into a pop-top camper, or a restored/upgraded 60 series Land Cruiser. Think that's a terrible way to spend the cash? That's the beauty of it. It is completely up to you. No one can tell you what to do with it. Except maybe your spouse.  Here are our favorite vehicle giveaways we’ve found online this week: 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition - Enter at Omaze Regardless of what you think about Ford using the name Mustang for an electric crossover, one thing is for certain, the Mustang Mach-E GT is an impressive piece of machinery. Porsche planning Cayman GT4, 700-hp Turbo S e-Hybrids

Fri, May 9 2014

The old wisdom when it came to the Porsche lineup was that the Boxster and Cayman needed to be kept in line so as not to encroach on even the lower end of the 911 range. But with the latest versions of the compact roadster and coupe, that logic has gone out the window. Especially with the introduction of the latest GTS models (pictured above). But that's not the end of the story. According to Motor Trend, Porsche is working on an even more powerful version of the Cayman that could carry the GT4 badge, positioning itself along the same lines as the 911 GT3 and GT2 – only, you know, smaller. Although our sources at Porsche would, predictably, neither confirm nor deny the report, MT has it that power could come from either a turbo-four or a more powerful flat-six, mated to the beefed-up DCT from the latest 911 GT3. A similar version of the Boxster could bring back the RS Spyder designation. That's not all Porsche is said to have in store, though. Based on the engineering that went into the 918 Spyder, Porsche could roll out a new range-topping model for the 911, Panamera and maybe even the Cayenne, packing a version of the 918's PHEV powertrain. Slotting in above the existing Turbo S variants of each model line, the new flagship models could pack 700 horsepower or more and be designated e-Hybrid in similar fashion as the 918.
