87 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe 2-door 930 3.3l on 2040-cars
Northport, New York, United States
This is a very special, indulgent car with low mileage (60,781 miles). A beautiful 1987 TURBO 930, in original Carmen Red, which was a one year only offering on this car. An excellent example of the classic 911, this car will not disappoint. It looks and drives like it rolled out of the dealership last week instead of 1987. It is in wonderful condition overall. Original, near flawless paint, NO ACCIDENTS. The beautiful, showroom shine is evident from any vantage point. The car was not detailed for these pictures - just pulled it out of its spot in the garage where it is kept under two covers. Like it just came out of a time machine, this car is rattle-free and feels new and tight, as expected of a car of this quality.
This car was lovingly maintained by a true Porsche aficionado (PCA member - no DE's). Swepco in the gearbox, Mobil 1 only. It has a lightweight Motorsport clutch that my wife can drive with no problem...though that rarely ever happened. I have lots of receipts with a nice paper trail from three owners. Fikse FM 10's are in like new condition with excellent rubber. There is nothing that this car needs. It is pure Porsche perfection, cosmetically and mechanically. You could drive this car across country tomorrow without a worry in the world. This was originally an Arizona car. There is no rust anywhere. THE ENGINE DOES NOT LEAK A SINGLE DROP OF OIL. Engine has never been taken apart, only for valve adjustments and servicing. This car has been upgraded with EFI and a Carrera intake manifold. It runs 1 bar of boost and has a large Kokeln intercooler (billet diverter valve) with slide valve removed. It has a K27 (7200) turbo with only a few thousand miles on it. It is also equipped with stainless headers/heat exchangers. VEMS EFI with full computer readout at ash tray location. It gives boost, engine temp, timing, mixture, EGT, ambient air temp, etc. Works flawlessly. Car was painstakingly upgraded with about $22k in mods. No expense was spared. It was done right, with excellent workmanship throughout. The gauges were silk screened by North Hollywood Speedometer and mileage is documented before and after. Some tasteful billet interior upgrades as well...pedals, door handles, and more. This car is a blast to drive. A real head-turning garage-kept beauty queen. A car of this vintage in this spectacular condition only comes around once in a lifetime. Whether you're a collector or a driver, this car is for you. Look at some of the other auctions on eBay for other vintage 911's. Many are well over $100,000. 911's are increasing in value every day, soon to price many out of the market. Additionally, I will include a like-new European fuel injection system (injection, DME, air box). This car is very powerful, pinning you in the seat until factory red line. It starts, idles, and behaves like a stock later model car. This car is a driver with none of the hiccups and issues of a non-tuned car. No expense was spared. |

'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers
Tue, May 30 2017A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list. NFL draft recruits to get Porsche 911s for fastest 40 times
Thu, Feb 5 2015It's fair to say the NFL Combine is a big deal for players entering a draft. Their future quite literally comes down to a series of drills. You a defensive tackle? Better rock out on the bench press. Hoping to be the next great wide receiver? Your vertical better be awesome. And what of the running backs? Well, few drills match the importance of the 40-yard dash. That particular drill will have a renewed importance not just for the RBs, but for other skill positions at this year's Combine, as the three fastest times will be gifted a shiny new Porsche 911. Adidas is offering up the three cars, which ESPN reports are valued at about $83,000 a piece. That means these new recruits won't be rolling around in a Turbo or GT3. They will, however, sport a questionable sense of design, as the German shoe company has fitted a cheetah print, which is meant to match one of the company's new trainers. You can check both the car and the shoe out above. NFL fans, meanwhile, should feel free to head into Comments and let us know who you think will take home a new 911. Related Video:
Porsche Boxster spied in the buff
Thu, Aug 6 2015Porsche is preparing a significant update to its entry level Boxster convertible, and while visually this might appear to be a simple refresh, the changes are more than skin deep. Following a number of rumors, Porsche will finally make the jump to turbocharged engines on a broad scale, and it starts with this new Boxster. According to our spies, it's the larger side intakes featured on this prototype that give away its smaller, force-induced flat-four engine. The dual exhaust pipes, meanwhile, say Boxster S to us, rather than just the basic model. Beyond the mechanical changes, this marks the first time we've seen the new Boxster completely free of camouflage. We can see that Porsche's stylists – famous for revolutionary designs slowly tweaking the same style for decads on end – adjusted the look of the front and rear fascias. We like the more aggressively canted headlights, which get the same four-pointed LEDs as its big brother, the 911. The slimmer taillights are a minor improvement on the inoffensive lamps fitted to the current car, and serve to take some attention off the all-plastic exhaust surround, which is much more simply styled than the current car's. It should also be noted that the aesthetics featured on the new Boxster are very, very likely to be transferred directly onto the new Cayman. You can check out our full gallery of shots of the all-new, totally undisguised Boxster in the gallery up top. Expect to see the new roadster around this time next year, with a debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show likely. Related Video:
