...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

IF YOU STILL HAVE INTEREST READ THE LISTING BELOW: I will tell you who I am, where I live, lots of details about the car, how to pay for the car and get it shipped.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 42 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family, I'm 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will help you 6 days a week, but not on Sunday. I'm a retired auto mechanics instructor and was a helicopter mechanic and instructor in the Army in the late 60s. I will check my email a couple of times on Sunday.

WILL I MAKE A VIDEO AND SEND YOU? No!!!!!!!!!! I'm 67 years old and don't want the hassle, come look at the car. I have sold every car I have ever put on the market without a video.

WILL I SELL THE CAR OFF EBAY MOTORS? I'm not crazy, I will sell to you direct. Come look, or if you have lots of nerve buy direct.  I know most guys use ebay for research and don't trust buying without coming to inspect. I welcome you to come and look the care over.

IS THIS A REAL TA Trans Am?  I think it is, I'll get the codes off the cowl data plate and post them.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS?     No rust bubbles in the paint, the underside looks solid, it has no thick under coating so you can see what your getting.

IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find and none stated on the title.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell.

PAINT: The paint has a good shine, no dents, no dings, I consider the car straight to look down the sides.

DECALS are in good condition.

CHROME:      Very little chrome and it very decent.

INTEROR:  The interior is OK, no bad smells, the interior is not new, but good. The headliner is good, the carpet decent,  door panels good, steering wheel no cracks, the seat covers good other than fading on the drivers, the dash pad has a couple of cracks, I have a new brown cover ordered.

UNSERSIDE:

It is good, but not detailed real beautiful. The floors look original to me, the frame good.

GLASS:  The glass is good and the windows roll up and down good, the windshield clear with no wiper marks, the only real defect is a bad scrape on the drivers window where it has rubbed over the years, if you bothers you I think a new one is about $129 dollars.

ENGINE: The engine runs strong and good, it has a 4 barrel carburetor, past owner said it was a 400 and the decals say 6.6, I think this year came with the 301, I'll check the code and repost . No knocks, no rattles and no blue smoke.  Fan shroud has a repaired place on the drivers side.

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  Nice sounding exhaust system, it has a new muffler, tail pipes and tips.

TRANSMISSION:

Turbo 350 that shifts good with no slip, this is a 3 speed automatic.

REAR-END:

No whines or growls, its a good highway gearing.

BRAKES:

All four wheels are disc brakes and they are power assisted.

STEERING: The steering is good, the car is power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES : Pontiac honey comb wheels that are reconditioned, they look new, the tires are new.

LIGHTS and wiring: The head lights work, the tail lights work, the brake lights work, the turn signals work, marker lights work, the dome light works.

THE GAS GAUGE WORKS! SPEEDMETER WORKS! Horn not working Wipers work!  Heater blower works.

.

GUAGES: The gas gauge works, temp works, tachometer works, the oil gauge hand is broken, so a aftermarket is under the dash.

HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? They open and close good.

HOW IS THE RUBBER WEATHER-STRIPPING? Its all nice.

HOW IS THE BODY PANEL FIT? I consider it good, the hood is better than most, but the gap is off a little.

THIS WAS AND ORIGINAL AIR CONDITIONED CAR: The inside stuff is in place the out side is in the trunk. Past owner was going to put the modern compressor and 2 new hoses on, but never got it done. It would be the smart thing to do unless your a purest and want it to look perfectly original.

WHY DON'T I FIX EVERYTHING? 2 reasons, time and money. I have too many projects started and don't have the time. The car is nice the way it is, but you want everything fixed parts will cost you well under $1,000.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time.  Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I DO NOT SHOW CAR ON SUNDAY>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport. They are located in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 66 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but some of them do not impress me at all,  they can make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $16,700 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

IS THERE A WARRANTY? No! Come inspect, judge and drive the vehicle all you want to because I do not offer a warranty on classic vehicles. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type, they are the way I see the vehicle. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected this vehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to purchase based upon that judgment solely. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
