Hello and thanks for your interest in my car.  You are bidding on a very rare triple black 1991 Trans Am convertible.  I have owned this car for a couple of years and have enjoyed it immensely.  It is one of 555 trans Am convertibles built in 1991 and one of 104 built with a 5 SPEED transmission.  I have previously owned three other '91-2 Trans Am convertibles, all automatics and can honestly say that there is no comparison of the "fun factor" that the 5 speed brings to these cars.

I have broken down by category the different parts of this car.

ExteriorThe exterior is in very nice condition and consistent with a 54K mile car.  There are a couple of scratches shown in the photos that could easily be touched up and other very small spots expected from a survivor car.
The photos show the exterior very accurately.  I had the nose and hood professionally removed and repainted because of a few bug spots on the front edge of the hood and holes in the nose from the OEM tag frame, as the original owner lived in a state that required it. The entire car was lightly buffed and waxed by the body shop at that time.  The tail lights are as new with no delamination.  The soft top is the original and has no holes and goes up and down smoothly.  There are some frays in the stitching but condition of the top is strong.  The actuators for the tonneau both work nicely.  The plastic rear window was replaced several years ago (receipt in folder) and is crystal clear.  The under body was undercoated  when new or very early in its life and the underside is absolutely rust free.  The original owner  from 1992 until 2007  informed me the car was only used in summer and was never exposed to bad weather or any winters.  The second owner from North Carolina apparently did the same.

Interior - The interior is extremely nice and looks like a car with less than half the miles.  There are no cracks in the dash or console.  The seats are nice with very little wear on the front bolsters.  The carpet is clean and original and the factory GM mats are still in very good condition.  All the dash lights work, the A/C is cold and the radio works, however the right rear speaker does make a buzzing noise.

Drivetrain -  The engine and entire drive train is clean with no leaks.  The starter is strong and the engine starts right up with no smoke.  The drive train is all stock with the exception of a replacement catalytic converter, muffler and exhaust tips.  The clutch pedal is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly.  The tires are Goodyear Eagle F1's with 40-50% tread left on them.

Documentation -   This rare Trans Am comes with the original owners manual and convertible supplement, along with the selling dealers business card.  I also have a copy of the original invoice from GM archives showing the car was delivered to GM auction sales, indicating that the car was a GM PEP program car.  It is my understanding the with the PEP program, GM execs could order cars and drive them for around six months.  According to the vehicle invoice, this car was priced internally on 3/91, built in 5/91 and invoiced in 11/91.  The original owner bought the car in 1/92.   According to the records on compnine.com, this car is one of SIX TRIPLE BLACK 5-SPEED CONVERTIBLES BUILT IN 1991.  I also have various receipts for maintenance and service that go back to 1998.  I am not a dealer and I have a clear Georgia title in hand.  The Carfax is clean and confirms the documentation.

Summary and Terms -  Of all of the Trans Am convertibles I have had over the years, this car is the most fun, get the most looks and has the best history and documentation.  I have tried to the best of my knowledge accurately outline the car and make buyers aware of the things that I would want to know if I were a potential buyer.  This is a 23 year old unrestored survivor car and is sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied.  This is a seven day auction with a reasonable reserve for a car of this type.  I require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auctions end via PAYPAL.  The remainder shall be paid in person at time of pickup or via certified funds that have cleared my bank before car is released.   I can store the car in the shop at my residence for a couple of weeks or so until shipping arrangements can be made if needed.

The bottom line is that this is a car that has huge collector car potential with 3rd gen F-bodies rapidly gaining in popularity, is nice enough to be seen anywhere, but not a ultra low mile time capsule that you are afraid to take out of the garage and use.  My wife and I have 2 kids and we loved to take this car out and cruise on Sunday afternoons.  It is a cool car that's priced right to have fun while not breaking the bank.   The only reason I am selling it is that I have other things in life that simply take priority right now.  I will be glad to answer any questions you have.   My number is 229-392-7111 and my name is Jason.  Thank you for your interest!

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
