Up for auction @ NO RESERVE!!  I have a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am Y81,Y82 Bandit car!!!  Numbers Matching Survivor! Pontiac (400) 6.6L Auto Trans.  This is an awesome Barn Find that I saved from certain death. I brought the car home replaced the starter and battery cable as well as fresh fuel and air filters. The car starts, runs and drives around the block. It does need the carb rebuilt but gets better every time I run it.

The reason I am selling it is because I just don`t have the time to restore it back to what it deserves to be. But I had to save it from where it has been sitting for about 12 years. If I were to keep the car it will just continue to waste away.

This is an almost untouched car that is in very savable condition. I have the original build sheet from behind the rear seat which lists it as a Y81 (Less Hatch) and Y82 Special Appea. The engine Block matches the last 6 of the vin#.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition,Drivers sear has some wear on the side and rear seat to has some fading. Nothing is tore up, No cracks in the dash and NO rot in the steel dash or cowl.

This car could be a driver with a little more work or it would be an awesome icon redone!

Their is rust in the drivers side floor pan and in the toe panel on both sides. Rear floor and rear seat pans are almost perfect, The frame appears to be intact and the dog legs are in good shape. Trunk has rust in left and right side but main pan is in very good condition. Rear Valance pan has rust typical of an F Body from this area. Fenders also would need to be replaced or repaired as well as the core support. The top side of the car has surface rust from sitting so long but all the badgeing is all visible.

All the correct trim is on the car with the exception of the center caps for the wheels. The bezels around the headlamps were gold but have faded the front bumper and fairings are in good shape and not all banged up like they usually are. This was a very nice car when it got parked with intentions to redo it but the former owner never got around to it.

This car also has some odd options. This is a NO T-Top (Y81), NON A/C car with crank windows and no tilt wheel. It is optioned with cruise control and power trunk which does work.

I have about 40 pics of the car. I am listing the 24 ebay allows which include the build sheet and trim tag. If you need any other pictures please feel free to contact me and I will get you what you need. The car does run and drive for loading purposes but any more than that it should be gone thru.

*** This vehicle is selling AS-IS with NO warranty. If you have any questions at all please contact me. I reserve the right to end my auction at any time for any reason as i do have the vehicle listed locally. $500.00 depost due at the end of the auction.

Thank you for your time and happy bidding!!!!!

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
