This s an original Buccaneer Red 4speed trans am with a newly installed 385 c.i. Stroker engine ( with receipts ordered a 383 but actually is a 385 ) and is an original 4 speed car .  Car has 194 Vortec heads , Edelbrock   intake , carb , and fuel pump , Scatter shield , MSD 6AL with 6000rpm limiter chip , flex fan , header with full length exhaust , etc. All less then 100 miles just done last month .  It runs and drives very well , has great power band throughout the gears and motor is just breaking in . Also all fluids have been changed 3X ans all additives  ( zinc ) have been applied . The interior was done at a cost of over $7000 including all new seats/foam with custom work done in Carbon fiber finish and looks better in person than in pictures . Also all the plastics were replaced including the rear quarter plastics , headliner  , lower door panels , all misc trim . The body is in very good shape and has some very small amounts of "bubbling " in the paint on the very lower portions of the rear quarter panels and one edge of the rear bumper where meets the quarter panel on the passenger side ( As I recall ) but gives a very nice overall appearance  even up close . It is a 40 year old car but is a solid car with a great sub frame and original floors , solid trunk , very good original seam seals on bottom of both doors , solid inner panels as to rust where typical rust occurs like trunk deck lid surround and door jambs even though it is and always was a NY car .The panel just below the front header panel ( about an inch wide running the length of lower header panel is black and cracking $140.00 to replace ) . All the lights , turn signals , wipers  blower fan , horn , etc all work properly and car is a great daily driver .I originally purchased this car over 20 years ago from the original owner and sold it to my Cousin who blew a head gasket and then several years later sold it back to me. I have an original 400 c.i. trans am motor with the 6X heads at a machine shop and will be included in the sale if car is sold . Just needs a few things ( heater core /no radio /needs a fan shroud although never gets past 170 on temp ) . Also has aftermarket gauges on dash ( not by me ) and they all do work , oil pressure @ 75-80 on cold start then 35-40 ,  temp runs cool # 165-170 , charges well , tach idles low @ 750 rpm and sounds great , just a lot of fun . I can be reached @ 516-467-6890 . Car is listed locally for sale @ $13,500 . I have more then that into it without the purchase price . Very fair price very nice car .

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
