Fort Smith, Arkansas, United States
All serious buyers should contact me directly at: 479-650-2636. Although this is a 7 day auction I reserve the right to end the bidding early. You are bidding on a great example of muscle car history, the 1965 Pontiac GTO! Very original, and in near perfect condition. The vehicle has been primarily stored for the last 25+ years. The 44,961 miles indicated are said to be original, and on close inspection of this car I would agree. Even the interior is in exceptional original condition right down to the carpet. The engine compartment was lightly detailed but still has the original air cleaner and valve covers, a few of the tower style clamps still remain. I do have some old service records from the car for the last 25-30 years that will help validate the low mileage. I also have documentation from the PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) documenting its authenticity. Description as follows. Interior: Correct and original bucket seat interior with column shift automatic. Trim code indicates gold 215-34. Original steering wheel, no cracks, AM radio. Beautiful dash and gauge assembly. Everything works right down to the cigarette lighter. Mechanical: Correct 389/335 HP YS code motor. Automatic trans, 3.23 safety track rear end. Power steering, power brakes, dual exhaust with original manifolds. We still have the original white wall bias ply tires with dog dish hubcaps. Exterior: Has new paint, Capri Gold code T. The remainder of the car appears to be original. With regards to rust, the underside is in very nice condition, no patches or repairs, Please take the time to review all of the pictures and do not hesitate to call for answers to any more questions you may have. |

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
