Numbers Matching, Original 1964 Pontiac GTO 4 Barrel (engine date code F284) - I have the 3-2 barrel manifold but never converted it because, contrary to popular opinion, the 4 Barrel works better (in my opinion anyway). I bought the car in 2011; prior owner had the car restored and engine rebuilt. Frankly, not the world’s best restoration. Since the time that I have had it have done a “frame on” restoration. While I have made a bunch of modifications, I have all of the original parts; if you’re a stickler you can put it back but take it from me: it is so much better now; pro touring upgrades to suspension and brakes! Generally speaking, completely all original cars are horrible driving cars. This is a great looking car in great shape; it was not built to be a show car; it was built to drive. Everything works except the original radio (didn’t want to take it out of the dash) –I added an amplifier in the trunk so it is iPod ready.

Too much to list but I will give it a try:

Rebuilt motor (by previous owner); it runs strong and is pretty much stock as far as I can tell
3.08 posi rear
Rebuilt original Carter AFB
SPC tubular upper control arms, heavy duty ball joints
SPC coil springs 550 lbs front, 135 back – whole car is dropped 2-3”
Front and rear sway bars
Body completely gone over; body gaps and panels all smoothed, straight and repainted
R134 Air condition; upgraded compressor, condenser, hoses, blower motor
Re-cored the heavy duty radiator
Bilstein Shocks all four corners
Recondition driver and passenger seats to firm them up
Antenna relocated from front to right rear 45 degree with electric motor
New starter
All bushings replaced – sway bars, control arms, ball joints
4 wheel disc brakes upgrade with dual master cylinder
Team III 17x8 “minilite” style wheels; 225/55/17s front, 255/50/17 rear Kumbo Ecsta
Custom fabrication of front air scoops – now functional – have original inserts
Ram Air Products High Performance Manifolds and Pypes Exhaust
Upgraded to 3 speed Turbo 350 transmission – have original 2 speed superglide (3 speed is way better)
Added additional water temp and pressure gauge from a ’65 to replace the clock
Custom Car Cover $364
Rechromed front and rear bumpers
Added vintage vacuum and tach gauges on the center console
Petronix electronic ignition with MSD MS6
Receipts for almost everything!

Another Burt Reynolds Trans Am is up for auction

Wed, Jan 18 2017

Fans of Smokey and the Bandit, your car has arrived. This Saturday, January 21, Barrett-Jackson will auction a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am clone that, while not originally in the movie, was owned and signed by the Bandit himself, Burt Reynolds. Not only that, but it packs many modifications that should make this Pontiac drive the way we all imagined it did. This is a Trans Am clone, not an original. The car was built by Nebraska company Restore A Muscle Car, and started life as a lowly Firebird Formula. However, the company brought it up to Trans Am grade and beyond. Under the hood is a fuel-injected 8.2-liter V8 from Butler Performance that Restore A Muscle Car says produces 600 horsepower. Coupled to the big V8 is a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. There's even Hurst line-lock on-board, so this Trans Am should be perfect for on-demand burnouts. The car also comes with QA1 coil-over suspension, so it should corner better than the original, too. The outside looks roughly like a stock Trans Am, but it now has 18-inch wheels styled after those from the movie car, and the shaker scoop says "8.2" on each side. View 5 Photos In 2014, a 1977 Trans Am owned by Reynolds sold for a whopping $450,000. That car wasn't an actual movie car either, and lacked the modifications of this one. However, it was used as a promotional car and was given to Reynolds, so it did have some history with the film. This upgraded car is listed in the Barrett-Jackson catalog as "no reserve," so it's going home with a new owner on Saturday, regardless of price. Related Video:

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
