Whether or not you like Rod Stewart, you've gotta admit.. 70's cars are the coolest. And who made a cooler car than the Pontiac Firebird!? This one was originally an Esprit with a Pontiac 350. 100% California car, I have a copy of the previous CA title and on that title "Previous State" is blank. Oh yeah, from California to Colorado and now to you! This baby has never seen snow! The body is in very good shape for it's age. Look at those wheel wells! The underside of the hood? Come on, whens the last time you say THAT on an original car?? Floor will need attention, I planned on doing so after about three to four seasons of cruising. She's been outfitted with a 6.6 liter Olds 403 engine. I balked when I found this out.. then I educated myself and found that Car Craft's Engine Masters top ten finisher Bill Travato built one for a customer of his that uses NITROUS. Yes, NITROUS. Seems this engine isn't any different than others: Abuse it and it won't last. Build it right and it has GODZILLA potential!! Plus, as low as these cars are geared, where THE HECK are you going to REV this thing out, the Bonneville salt flats? Please. Mondello is no different. He's built tons of these. Further reading: http://www.mondellotwister.com/articles/UnsungHero.pdf The Details: TH-350 trans, 8 inch rear end with open diff and unknown gears. The tag might be there but I've never checked. I'll be sorry to see this beaut go, but I just can't seem to come up with the time she deserves. Questions, you can always email me and if you need more specific pics I can snap any you'd like. I rarely see many sellers as open and honest on eBay. You know it's true. Burt Reynolds' old Pontiac Trans Am replica sold for $317,500
Thu, Jun 20 2019Following Burt Reynolds' passing last September, Julien's Auctions held an estate sale of the late actor's property on June 15-16 in Beverly Hills, Calif. Hundreds of items were included in the auction, but none more valuable than the Pontiac Trans Am Bandit replica previously owned by Reynolds. It easily surpassed expectations when it sold for $317,500. Julien's, the self-proclaimed experts in contemporary and pop culture, listed 876 pieces in the sale, from cowboy boots to a driver's license to scripts. The online preview said it estimated a range of prices from $25 to $200,000. They were way off. Item No. 716 was a replica of a Pontiac Trans Am Bandit that was seen in the original "Smokey and the Bandit." Not the real car, just a re-creation. But its value comes more from who owned the ride rather than what the car was. The replica was owned by Reynolds for some years, and now that he's passed, it's coveted even more. It's not the only Trans Am item that sold at auction. Three Reynolds Trans Am model cars sold for $640, $576 and $512. A Reynolds-signed "Bandit" poster sold for $3,200. A Reynolds-signed poster from the Trans Am plant sold for $1,562.50, a Reynolds custom-built Trans Am office desk sold for $4,375, and a "Smokey and the Bandit" decorative etched glass panel sold for $896. This isn't the first time a Bandit replica has sold for big money. In 2016, a promotional Trans Am sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $550,000. We also believe the exact car sold in this Julien's auction was previously bought at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2018 for $192,500. If that's the case, somebody just made an extremely easy profit.
Rent the 1967 Pontiac GTO from the XxX films now on Turo
Tue, Jan 10 2017The process of renting a car usually ranges from mildly annoying to "I'm calling corporate to get you fired." Plainly, it sucks, but sometimes you're left with no alternative. Turo, a peer-to-peer carsharing network, has created what's essentially the AirBnB for cars. Like AirBnB, the quality and variety of the rides varies based on location. If you're in Tucson, Ariz., in the next week, go check out this 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible before the release of XxX: The Return of Xander Cage. Promotions and marketing aside, this is still the opportunity to drive one of the original muscle cars. It's not clear if this is an original GTO or a Pontiac Tempest that was converted, but does it really matter? Old cars never drive as well as you hope, so, as long as it looks and sounds awesome, who cares? The owner listed on Turo is Xander C., Vin Diesel's character from the XxX franchise. This is the car that was used in the original 2002 film, and from the photos it appears to be in better shape than many other movie cars. The exterior is mostly stock, with some slight modifications to the lighting, wheels, exhaust, and trim, with the addition of a funky looking hood scoop that the listing claims shoots flames. It's not clear if it functions as an actual intake because there aren't any notes about what rests under the hood. The listing does ask for premium fuel, so more than likely it's some variation of a high-compression V8. Inside, the dashboard looks like someone raided the AutoZone accessory aisle. There are gauges, dials, toggle switches, and readouts galore. The listing also claims the Goat is packing a rocket launcher and a weapons stash under the seat. $999 per day isn't cheap, but it's less than you'd pay for a day with one of the rent-an-exotic shops you see in Los Angeles or New York. If you're not in Tucson or the price is a little too steep, Turo has what it's dubbed the Adrenaline Collection. The name may be hyperbole, but the lineup of cars is actually really solid. A quick glance reveals a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider, and a 1969 Jaguar E-Type. The car list keeps expanding, so if this proves popular, look for more cool stuff in the future. And a lot of those ways can be boring or tasteless. This one is neither. This is a seriously classy Pontiac GTO. Under the hood is a 461 cu. in. V8 from Butler Performance that's based on an actual Pontiac V8, not just another Chevy engine. The whole thing is subtle with a low-key metallic green and clean gray wheels. There isn't any overly flashy chrome or decals.
