Rare 1995 SLP Firehawk

#564, Only 41K Miles, Very Nice

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

OWNER HISTORY:  The current owner purchased this car nine years ago with 41.6K miles.  It now has 41.8K miles.  Only 200 miles!  It has obviously not been driven much (like most of the cars in his collection of 1990s muscle cars).

Only 671 Firehawks were produced for 1995 and only 102 were convertibles.  This is one of only 41 convertibles produced with a 4-Speed Automatic, and one of only 32 Bright Red convertibles.  It looks so sharp, the sales brochure cover car was a red/beige convertible).  This rare, high performance car is being sold to make room for some new acquisitions.  With the recent oil/filter service, and new tires last year, this red convertible “hot rod” is all ready for some top-down summertime cruising!

MARQUE HISTORY:  The fourth generation Firebird was produced from 1992 to 1997.  This one is the Formula Series with the SLP (Street Legal Performance) Firehawk R6V RPO code.  Fore more information and a video, check the links to the below websites.

VEHICLE CONDITION:

We do a mechanical and cosmetic inspection to each vehicle before listing it for sale.  We drive the vehicle roughly 10 miles, but not enough to determine its long distance reliability.  Older vehicles are subject to normal wear and tear and we have tried to indicate the overall condition of the vehicle to the best of our ability.  But, we can always find everything that is not perfect with a vehicle, so independent inspections are welcome and encouraged.  View the inspection report below:

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
