ALL ORIGINAL CAR. ORIGINAL MOTOR,TRANSMISSION,INTERIOR. FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, POWER BRAKES, POWER STEERING.

This is my 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400. The car, and motor are numbers matching, and it has 90,867 original miles on it. The car is just about a survivor besides being painted by the previous owner in the early 2000s. I am the third owner of the car.

THE BODY:
When repainted the car was completely painted from under hood to inside doors, and jams to under trunk. The car has a nice shine to it, and the paint is in great shape given year. The original color was Nightshade Green. The car has the original glass in it. The driver side, and passenger side windows do still have the Firebird emblem etched onto them. The rear quarter glass is original, and in good shape. The rear window has no flaws. The front windshield does have a small chip at the top of it away from the line of sight. The car does have all the original chrome trim around windows, and wheel wells. The front, and rear bumpers are original, and in great shape. Still shiny, and no signs of rust. The car has the original factory 400 emblems on the hood, and on the truck. With the Pontiac emblems on the rear quarter panels (blinkers), and on the front bumper. The car has original hubcaps, and fairly new tires on them. There are a couple SMALL spots of rust that I did take pictures of. They are not very noticeable, and are not to large at all.

THE MOTOR & TRANSMISSION:
The motor is the original 400 small block with the original Hydra-matic 400 transmission. The motor is equipped with the original Rochester 4BBL Quadrajet. The car CAME from the factory with air conditioning, and came also with factory power brakes, and factory power steering. The motor is about original as you can get besides hoses, and belts being replaced. It does not have any weird ticking sounds or tapping sounds to it. It crank right up, and idles, and runs smooth. The car turns, and stops better than most late model cars. It turns, and stops with no hesitations, and accelerates without a hiccup. The A/C blows decently cold given the year of the car, and there is quite a temperature difference between outside, and inside car. The transmission shifts perfect. No hesitations or slips. The motor does have a small oil leak. I think coming from the front timing cover. It is not enough to have to put oil in between changes.

THE INTERIOR:
The interior is all original including the clock, and the radio. The gauges, and all knobs (including windshield wipers, and night time lights) are original. The head lights, and running, and brake lights work, including the blinkers. The high beam light switch (on floor), and lights work as well. The horn works too. The front, and rear seats are original, and are in great shape given year. There is a small split on the shoulder of drivers seat (just needs to be restitched NOT torn). The head liner is not falling down, and still is in great shape. The dash, and glove box, and all trim do not have any cracks or tears, and are in great condition. The carpet does have some wear, but nothing to be concerned with. There are no pieces missing in the interior, and it is complete.

The car is garage kept, and within the past year hasnt been driven more than 300 miles. I dont have the time to drive the car or keep up with it as it deserves.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
